Default Cruise control or not for best millage?

Hi

After seeing
I've been thinking if my Ranger has the same issue. Basically Clarkson discovers that the Audi A8 TDI gets better millage without using the cruise control.

I do a lot of highway driving, and anything to help my fuel economy is welcome

i think its best w cruise control, id like to find this as well. i know in hilly terrain, cruisecontrol is bad because it runs your rpms so high to keep it at the speed, when you could do it better yourself

weird. i always heard the opposite. cruise applies constant pressure, not the normal accelerate, ease off, accelerate etc. that normal people do.

From my house to the college I am going to is four hours away all highway and I tried the cruise none cruise method and I got 2.5 mpg more by using cruise control at 75 mph. I don't know how I got it but I get 26.5 mpg in an automatic 3.0 running 75 mph the whole time. It's like magic!!

I use the CC all the time except where the road is hilly which I'll turn CC off until I'm back on more level road. Slight hills are ok but the steeper ones will give your CC a workout.
