Default Rust ):

my xlt is starting to rust in the rear quarters. anyone know how to stop it? i dont need it to look like it was never there i just want to stop it from getting bigger.

My doors have the same problem, I have to replace them though. Take it to a body shop and get an estimate and have them tell you what would need to be done

alright. i got some of that rust stop stuff at autozone im hoping that will last a while until i can offord to get it repaired.

Once its started you cant stop it by any means short of cutting out the affected material and welding in a new panel. Rust "stoppers" can slow it down but it will only delay the inevitable. I know thats not what you wanted to hear, rust is an evil thing.

i know. it sucks.. i just want it to last through this winter so i can get it done right next summer. the damn salt eats our trucks alive lol

If its not on an outer part where you cans see it I'd sand it down past the rust using 120-80 grit sandpaper. Get a can of etch primer and that will stop the rust. Then cover the area with 3M undercoating to protect it from rocks and stuff. That will keep it from coming back for a while.
