Default How deep can we go

Just wondering. Being new to 4X4's and the Ranger I wonder how deep into water can these things go. At what point is it terminal? If by some stupid chance I end up way to deep can I get it towed in and with out too much trouble get it cleaned out and running again.
I know they recommend not going above the axel and if you do you may need to get the bearings replaced and fluids replaced. But if you do end up past the bumper can you keep on going?

I've gone to the top of the frame before with my 4x2. Never again. My suspension still squeaks, I had dried mud in my air box and air filter, throughout my brakes, etc. Everywhere you don't want it.

If you are talking about the water level up to the rear bumper on a stock height truck, you take risk of flooding the interior of your truck as water will seep under the door. I wouldnt do it, but that's only me.

Take a look at my threads here. I took my truck mudding for the first and last time. Not only did I break it, but the cleanup is a bitch so think twice!

Had mine up to the headlights, not the smartest idea, but it was that, or die in a flash flood. She pulled through like a champ. I'd say no more then the bumper. Good rule of thumb on any vehicle. You can equip the truck with a snorkel, and waterproof it, this will allow you to go deeper, as well as lifting, but you will then suffer the consequence of screwing up your interior if you get water in it.

stay out of the water!!! it is not worth the headache. If you have a truck just for mudding/wheeling go for it. Otherwise, keep out da water with a DD

also, any pin holes/tears in things like cv boots, ball joint boots will reck havoc with those components.
