This is a good lesson. Even if you don't go through the cops/insurance, get the other responsible party to sign something saying it was their fault, and exchange information. Otherwise, NEVER just 'let it go'. They might seem nice at the scene, but after they talk to others about it days later, shit can flip a 180 in a heart beat.

If they have the license plate # he can be tracked...but if it was a young girl she prob didn't get it...

She seemed really scared so i dont think she would have taken my plate down. More worried if I was gonna be a prick about it. We were sitting in bumper to bumper traffic so there really was no where to drive off to even if she wanted.

I picked up a new hitch cover today tho!

It depends on your definition of the right thing.... technically you're supposed to call the cops, file a report, and contact both insurance companies..... I would have at least taken her info in case there were more problems than immediately seen... but if you're concerned about holding her responsible while still letting her go easy then you nailed it on the head.
