Altho I must admit at times I regret getting the ranger. Mainly because its another loan on a vehicle, its nice not to have to deal with payments. With purchasing the other ranger you'll be making payments now to make it to work when you already have a well running vehicle. Save up pay cash so you dont have those pesky payments is my opinion.

It seems like a decent deal to me. Get a soft tonnoue cover for it and some highway tires to bump up the mpg a bit more (less rolling resistance). The 2.5L is a bit weak but if you are going to be doing a lot of highway driving, you'll be pretty much ok at speed. It will just take some getting used to after having a 4.0L.

Exactly. If you don't owe anything on the truck you currently have, why put yourself in another loan? Yeah, $2000-$5000 isn't a huge loan, but you can also save up that much pretty quick if you choose to cut your spending a little. I think I'd rather drive around with worse gas mileage for another year and buy a car/truck outright than get something with better gas mileage that is going to cost even more every month to make payments on.

Also, talk to your insurance company! They can probably look at getting you the best deal for your insurance plan by adding a second vehicle.

Just for reference: My '97 2.3 Auto got 18mpg city. I would think the most you could get out of that truck would be 20mpg city, 23 hwy. Not "great gas mileage" to me.

If I had to suggest something, if you want a car, I'd go ford, or import.

i agree on picking up a beater civic or corrolla; those cars are reliable, CHEAP, and get excellent gas mileage.
