Recall 2011 ford ranger sport 4x4

As most of you know i work for a ford dealer today i got a notice of a recall on my new truck 900 miles lol, they told me its my multi fuction switch just thought i should let you guys know!! The switch controls your turn signal wipers, if it fails your will lose tail lights turn signals and wipers. Dealer will replace at no charge if your vehical is one of the recalled units.

Is that for the 4x4 only or does it include the 2wd?

Hmm...I'm guessing they would mail something out to the customers who own these? Usually recalls and bulletins are VIN # specific, ranging between a series of numbers. The multi function switch is the signal/high beam/wiper stalk isn't it?

Yup. This that switch to the left of the steering wheel.

I found it on the Ford Owners site and made an appointment. It didn't specify a particular trim line or drive type. It wouldn't hurt to give the stealership a call...

I decided to have an early oil change done at 1500 miles on my 2WD 2011 XLT. I say early because the dealership recommended 5000 miles for changes when I bought the truck (I think the manual recommends 7500?). Part of the deal was lifetime oil changes at the recommended intervals but they also threw in 2 extra changes to be used at my discretion. Whatever happened to the recommendation to change at 600 to 1000 miles? Owners manuals used to stress how important that first oil/filter change was. My theory is that manufacturers are having to lower the carbon footprint of vehicles to meet EPA standards and an easy way to do that is LONGER intervals for oil changes.

Anyway, back on the subject of the OP, they removed the cover of the column and my truck was one that needs the new switch work. Apparently they have to check the actual part number of the factory installed switch?

hmmm mine are still working, but I will look into this the next time I go to ford and keep an eye on it.

No recall's for my 2010 and I thought that 2011's were being made using left over 2010 parts. Lol!

could be an assembly problem someone on the line screwed putting it together or something
