First off I don't have any problem whatsoever with the fancy halo, projector, or other custom type headlights to make your truck look the way you like it. In fact I'm thinking of upgrading the plain factory lights 'cuz the lenses are sorta yellow anyway and I like the euro look a lot. Also, no problem with super-bright offroad lights as long as they are used offroad only.

My problem is with unthinking jerks with super-bright headlights that blind oncoming drivers. So many of these headlights out there these days, and many times I'm totally blinded by oncoming vehicles especially on 2-lane or narrow country roads. Of course the first thing you think of is turn on your own brights to 'get even' with the guy, but that's pretty stupid 'cuz then you have both drivers blinded, which doubles the chances of a head-on collision. So I just slow down and try to stay in my lane, but it's still freakin' dangerous and totally uncalled for. It's a safety hazard any way you look at it.

So what are your thoughts/comments on this issue?

If they would take the time to adjust their lights down there wouldnt be the problem.

Also many times people put HID's in a non projector housing. which causes a lot of the problem as well as it not being adjusted down.

When I took a driving class. They told us to look toward the shoulder of the road when someone with bright lights is approaching.

They also advised not to flash your high beams. There were a couple reasons.
1. Blind the other driver
2. Blind a person traveling behind them
3. Road Rage (on the others part)

Good advice. Sometimes I do flash my brights just for a nano-second and usually they turn 'em off 'cuz they just forgot. But a lot of these lights are super-bright even on low beams.

Looking at the shoulder helps keep you from running off the road for sure, and avoids some loss of night vision.

I often get blinded by the concentrated deadly beam of oem projectors.

The aftermarket hids, very rarely.


There's a lot of hate towards hids in normal housings, when in fact it's like STL said, people don't bother lowering the cut-off.

I have noticed a few BMW's around here their lights seem to be blinding.

A friend of mine has a HID headlight kit in his non projector headlights. he even removed the little "shroud" in front of the bulb. I asked if he got "flashed" by other drivers, he said "all the time, but I just flash my brights back at them, these are street legal HIDs, I want to see the road" well, one evening his wife went to use the truck, came driving back and my friend said "damn... is that my truck? those lights ARE blinding"
and told me the next day, he lowered the aim and put the shroud back in. (there still in non projector beams, but at least he's making an attempt)

all the high end cars are far more worse in my opinion then an HID in a stock housing. the light is so concentrated in their projectors in a certain spot, if you happen to look at that spot you basically get a flash burn, lol

Why?

Because i have decided that i am tired of getting blinded by these old people just so they can see at night so i will do it right back. Its supposed to be iliegeal to drive with your brights on but cops down here don't seem to do jack shit about it.

Look, just put the kneejerk reaction aside for a moment and think. You have a vehicle coming at you at 50-60 mph that is blinding you. Your 'solution' is to blind them too, increasing the chances of a head-on collision by 100%. Then you decide to go around blinding everyone because... well, that part doesn't make any sense.
