Exclamation Moving: Can my truck tow this trailer?

So I've found another job in another town and have to move there. I was wondering if my truck can tow this 5'x10' u-haul trailer. I have a 1 bedroom apartment, the biggest things being the couch and my bed. No appliances or large dressers, most everything else will be boxed.

Here is what I was looking at:

http://www.uhaul.com/Reservations/Eq....aspx?model=MV

The things I know are:

my GVWR is 5280 lbs.
my hitch is 3500 lbs. max
my tongue is 350 lbs. max
trailer max load is 1550 lbs.

It says that the trailer has an automatic surge brake, so I'm assuming I can just use my 4 way plug and the brakes are part of the trailer tongue.

Does this all sound ok? I'm probably moving next week!

I've pulled one of those with my ranger. Just like with anything remember your pulling a trailer and take it easy. You should be fine though.

Auto surge brakes slow the trailer down so the truck brakes don't overwork ( They actually work together with the truck and the trailer brakes to slow down the vehicle ) . A good thing to have if you haul a lot of weight . Basically the trailer brakes assist in stopping the vehicle . think of going downhill with all of that weight , or driving 65 and need to stop fairly quick . You can have this set up as they install a box that mounts in your truck . I would say if the trailer is going to be loaded fully , then do it if you travel a long way , it can help your vehicle stopping and save your brakes as well as some wear and tear on them . don't let the truck lug up a hill as that can put more pressure on the engine . You have a 5 speed so You can control your shifting better as well . What I used to do on older trucks is downshift to a lower gear going down hills and let the trans slow the vehicle down .

my 4banger could barley pull a woodspillter. (kidding) but i could feel it back there. I have the 2.5 and i tow a snowmobile trailer with 2 champ karts about 500lbs each and its not too bad actually. Barley acceleration but handles pretty good

----------

I also had to tow a jeep a couple miles back to his house, his timing belt went on him but the ol gal pulled her real good lol

no everyone, surge brakes is a master cyl on the tongue. basically as the truck slows, the triler moves forward, presses on master cyl, and applies brakes to trailers. nothing to install, no electronics other than the 4 flat for lights

Thanks....that's what I was wondering.

And thanks for the pics Chuck, that puts it into perspective a little better.
