Just curious, whats better for a truck? Coil Springs or T-Bars? I had a 2008 3/4 truck w/ T-Bars and I always thought the front end was the weak-link on that truck. The front end would bottom out on speed bumps and uneven surfaces easily, the only benifit was the a smooth ride for a truck despite being a little "springy" that said I've also owned a 2007 Tacoma and 2008 Nissan Frontier with a Coil/ Strut type spring setup and both rode pretty well, better IMO than anything I've ever owned with T-bars. That said I have a 2wd Ranger with coils, while i realize this is the entry-level Ranger the front end is almost too "springy" at times, although it seems to be resonably compliant at highway speeds but super bouncy on speed bumps. I've never driven a Ranger with T-Bars and the only reason I can think of why Ford did this is the same reason every manufacture useses T-bars, not because they are necessarily good but because of 4wd & packaging issues where a coil setup almost always is in the same place where a driveshaft would need to go through.

i personally prefer t bars, for the fact its adjustable, and has less sag over time

Some people will say coil springs are better. It doesn't matter to me really. I am not looking for a smooth ride. It is a freaking truck so it is not suppose to ride like a car.

I'm with STL on that give me a bench seat and a rough ride any day over a plush cushy ride. But I am not 100% sur so don't quote but I think all the Sports have T-Bars too. All the ones around here aren't raised enough to tell but I think so.

The sports do have torsion bars.

The sports took over for the edge in 2006. The sports from 1998-2000 also have torsion bars

I'd prefer coil springs for modifcation reasons....and a solid front axle......but alas I got what I got lol

I'm not looking for a Cadilac ride in a truck either, was just curious at the end of the day what actually is more durable? Like I mentioned previously T-Bars are essentially a remote spring and used for packaging reasons where a complex design would be needed to allow a driveshaft and coil setup. There must of been a reason my GM went back to coil springs on the 1/2 ton GMT900 trucks, yet they kept the T-bar setup for the 3/4 & 1-ton? Spoke with a Ranger owner the otherday that had a 2001 4x4 and hey said he hated the way the truck rode for daily driver useage yet he still loves his Ranger.

My 2wd rides really well on the highway, but is very bouncy over speed bumps, driveways and rail road tracks.
