Once a year Mobil 1 5w30 extended performance, its good for 15000 miles or 12 months whichever comes first, I drive 8k a year so 12 month interval for me and I have 228k miles too prove it works fine, no issues here so cry all you want about motor seizes and whatnot, ain't happened here for over six years and over 200k miles.

No, I have owned my truck since 94 the year it was made, I used too do all these short oil changes. In the past six years I have done yearly changes as I only drive eight thousand a year now. When I was young, I drove the hell out of it because it was my only vehicle, now I have four, and I don't drive any of them over 15k a year.

Re: Oil Change intervals
I change my oil at 5k and use shell rotella synthetic or walmart supertech synthetic and a motorcraft filter. I Just changed the rear gear oil and tranny fluid. Used supertech 85-90 and penzoil dexronIII/mercon.

I haven't, but I always cringe at any 'fix' in a bottle.

Ive used it because my transmission would kind of bump when i took off from a stop, its only a stabalizer for the tranny fluid, and it did stop the problem i had.

Re: Oil Change intervals
Does anyone have any insight on what makes a high-mileage oil well, high mileage?
I work at a Sears Auto Center and along with conventional Valvolene we also sell Valvolene MaxLife High Mileage alongside our Synpower Full Synthetic. My Ranger is clocking at 119k and my next oil change I'd like to switch over to synthetic but I'm also considering the High-Mileage.
Maybe it's just me but I've even asked the higher up techs here what's so special about the High mileage and they've got no idea either...they just put it in if the customer buys it. I guess I'm weird that way but if I'm paying more I'd like to know exactly why it's going to perform better.
Rant over, anyone have any ideas?

Re: Oil Change intervals
I voted every 5 k but that changes with the seasons. I try to change every 3500 during the summer because of the very dusty conditions of the many dirt roads I travel. Once the dry season is over I tend to go to around 5 k to change it. if I have low milage and don't reach the 5k within 4 months I change it then.
