Now, before anyone say's I'm being ripped off, here's the breakdown -
Full oil change
all fluids topped off
all grease fittings checked/filled
tires rotated
$29.00
A little off topic, but sometimes the dealers offer great sale prices for routine maintenance and other work - besides the oil change and check up quoted - e.g. alignments for $69.95, A/C service and check up and top-off for $79.95 - prices taken from a dealer flyer sent to me; and that's for Ford Certified Service.

Where they try to make some $ back is when they can find other work that may be required/recommended, and then talk the customer into OKing the extra work - usually this will be at full pop; no deals here.

Hitting them up for "Oil Change Specials" is a great deal as far as I'm concerned.

That's an awesome deal!

Here a basic one is a lil under 50$, and they don't check/do jackshit, they just check boxes pretending they did.

Depends on the truck. 5,000 or 6 months for the '98. 7,500 or every 6 months for the '11. The '11 is brand spanking new (04/2011) so it won't be due until October for it's first change. Since I have two trucks with different manufacturer recommendations, I can't vote in the poll. Either answer I give would be inaccurate.

every 3000. i just use a good conventional (castrol GTX) and that works out good. wouldnt pay for me to do synthetic IMO. it doesnt hurt anything to change it every 3000 lol anything over 5k seems sketchy i dont care what kind of oil you run, why risk it? just my 2 cents

Full synthetic every 5000 miles. I used to do 3000 miles even with fully synthetic. But I've decided that was overkill. Oil was still clean when I drained it.

It used to be every 3,000 miles until it went metric. Great for the economy, albeit on a small scale. My neighbour bought himself a new car. After 5 years he called me over to ask if I could tell what was wrong with his car. Eventually I checked his dip stick and asked when was the last time he changed his oil.
"changed my oil?" was his reply.
I know it is important to change your oil regularly but every 3 thousand kilometers is nuts.

For those who say that full synthetic is too expensive, think about it for a minute. $3/qt every 3000 miles or $6/qt every 6000... um, hello?

Sorry, can't help it. I'm just a big believer in synthetic oil and I wish all my fellow Ranger enthusiasts would reap the benefits of it. Engines just don't seem to wear out on the stuff. Best technological advance for the automotive consumer of this century IMO. Spreadin' the word!

Well since my truck has 216k. I change my oil at 300k. And every other oil change I substitute a quart of oil for Lucas oil stabilizer. And in between oil changes I only loose a half a quart.
