You are right, not for 20k. I should have put the Ranger's msrp price, not one with a rebate.

This is the high trim LTZ with lots of options, for only $34k. Find yourself an LS or hell even an LT and you can probably find one for under $30k, and the Ranger starts at what $25, 26k?

Ranger STARTS at $13,999 in Canada.. that's MSRP. You're never ever ever ever ever ever EVER gonna pay MSRP unless you're... well.. hell.. you're really never going to. Sticker means nothing. Lots of people with '11's.. myself included have gotten fully loaded 4x4's for around 20k... and 35k is just not even remotely comparable.. It's almost double.

MSRP is Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price; the key is in the word "Suggested"; you always have room to haggle, and would be a fool not to; you should be able to knock off $1000 right off the bat - add in rebates, low interest loans, student discounts, etc., and the market is open for all kinds of bargains.

So to respond to the OP's question: No, not compared to anything else that's out there similarly equipped, and compared to what their asking price is.

BTW that's for new vehicles.

For used vehicles, there are way too many variables (condition of vehicle, how well it was maintained, how it was driven, used for, Mods, which can be improvements and in some cases, liabilities - because, face it, we've all seen Mods which can make us want to puke - and so on and so forth . . .) so that's more of a individual assessement.

Remember, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and that is not a simple assessment to make when you're the one selling it (and vice versa - it's only worth what the owner is willing to sell it for, and a buyer can't always easily determine what that price is).

In that respect, the used vehicle market seems more likely to ensure that a "fair price" is arrived at for a particular unit, but that price is often more heavily influenced by availability in a given geographical market (than a new vehicle is).

No simple answer really.
Well said Bro.

What everyone seems to be missing, once again, is that the trucks that are priced for $28k are not selling for that much. MSRP on mine was $28k and the price I paid was thousands less than that.

Thank you... I hate that comparison... with an F250 you're gonna get more power but less options for that price... and for those of us who don't need/want the power & size the comparison is null & void.

x2, I don't see the point in buying new. Get one a few years old that is off lease or was owned by an older person who drove it to church on Sunday and buys new vehicles every few years. Whole lot cheaper!

Just built a white Supercab Sport similar to my Edge on Ford.com, and without being able to check off power, tow package, bed extender, etc, I came up with a $25K MSRP. Adding the other small options my truck has, I'd put that number close to $26k. So my truck went for about 4K less than MSRP. I still think $22K is waaayyy too high for my truck, but the dealership it was originally sold at has bad ratings, so it doesn't surprise me that they wouldn't go lower.

Overpriced? Heck no! These guys gotta' eat too ya' know.
DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) Ford Motor Co. has rewarded CEO Alan Mulally with stock worth $56.5 million before taxes.
Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr., the man who hired Mulally, got stock worth $42.4 million.

At least they didn't borrow money AND take a bonus.... they are obviously doing something right 'cause they didn't borrow money, we are all here, and we all know that people are still buying the vehicles. When the price is REALLY too high people will stop buying.

Good point marie. I bought my ranger because it fit my budget and I loved, if its overpriced is irrelevant when you really buy something you enjoy, right?

Ford was one of the only companies smart enough to restructure before they got into trouble.

And I agree with Andy, I paid for what I wanted, and I wouldn't want anything else, except for a 4.0 and a 5 speed.
