That's what i meant lol.

The basis of his argument being taken away, the rest fell apart (no offense north44 ).

Well, I guess I have to respond.

Name another compact truck from GM, Dodge, or imports to compare the Ranger with:

Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, Dodge Dakota, Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, Suzuki Equator - all listed/rated as compact trucks (uh, not full sized that is), and they price out a lot more than a Ranger with similar options (talking about "new"/ built to order - just use that "Build Your Own" feature on any Manufacturers website).

No offense taken, I think you may have misinterpreted what I had written - which was to show that compared to other compact pickups available, a similarly optioned out Ranger was not overpriced (new MSRP as a basis of comparison).

----------

BTW, if you consider those other trucks to be "mid-size" then I would contend that the only substantial way in which they may differ from a Ranger is in the availability of full four doors.

In almost every other respect, you can option out an extended cab version (except for the Equator, only 4 door available I believe) which is similar to the extended cab Ranger - dimensions, and capabilities, all similar enough so that they are natural competitors.

So, compared to them, No, the Ranger is not overpriced.

Toyota doesn't put manual tranny's in very many of their trucks anymore, and they are waaay over priced. as are Nissan Frontiers. I think I got a good deal.

When you deduct the rebates and haggling from the sticker.....the Rangers are $4000+ cheaper out the door than The Tacoma. Supporting the US economy does have it's benefits from time the time!!!!!!!!

They are, Tennessee or Kentuky. Frontiers are from the other state.

Chevrolet Colorado- "The Mid-Size Truck You Can Count On"
Dodge Dakota- Chrysler compares it to the colo and taco.
Toyota Tacoma- 2011's "Best Resale Value: Mid-Size Pickup"
Nissan Frontier- "You won't find a more powerful v6 in a mid-size truck"
Suzuki Equator- Suzuki launched it as a mid-size truck in chicago, in 2008.

If you don't take into consideration the massive ford rebates of late, the ranger gets very close to the prices of mids, which in my opinion, is too much.

And i don't consider them mid-size, the manufacturers do.

i think the small truck market in general has increased in price (both used and new) over the past few years especially. It's not uncommon to see early 2000 Rangers with 100k on the clock being sold for $7000; way overpriced imo for a small truck. Hell, there was an S10 with 125k on the clock with a price of $7500 near me; S10 or Ranger, that is a lot of money for an older, higher mileage vehicle. With that being said, I would not buy a new Ranger, even with a large rebate, a 2011 Ranger is not worth 20k+. Nothing has really changed in the past decade with the Ranger, yet I can get myself into a F150 or 1500 Chevy for only a bit more.

Here's what i think. Yes they're overpriced but here's how to fix that. GET RID OF UAW and watch the pricetag drop like a lead brick. Plus the ranger platform is out of date by at least 16 years now. Ford needs to redesign it but they don't have enough sales to take the risk of redesigning it. Plus after the way the new F150 turned out, I wouldn't want them to redesign it because it would look like crap. The old ranger is played out from both ends of the spectrum concerning mods, business deals, designing, and a marketing stand point.

Yeah.. good luck getting one of those for close to 20k or even "a bit more" when a 4x4 Ranger can be had in the high teens/low 20's depending where you're at....

Anything you can get in an f150 for even close to 20 won't even have power windows, let alone 4x4.
