Default Stock shock replacements

Forgive me for not using the suspension section but no offense........there's like tree billion different sub forums.

Anyway, what are some good replacements that are nice and soft. I don't hardly go off roading at all. Next year i may go down a few trails but thats one day out of like 100 something that i might get dirty. So it doesn't make sense to me to get beefy off roading crap when i don't do that lol.

Anyway i've looked in grabriel's and into rancho's. Anybody have any good suggestions. I've got the XLT 4x4 so i would like to have something nice but at the same time nothing so firm that i break a hip running over train tracks.

I agree, i could rock some white w/ black boots

But i have no idea of the ride comfort. I've heard billsteins are nice but again, never into any detail.

The ride is a big improvement over stock. I have the ranchos on my truck and they ride great! Not stiff at all.

is there a certain model i get, cause i see they have like a 5000 model and some other ones.

I mean we are talking like 40-50 bucks per shock online. I'm not worried to drop 60 or whatever per shock

Get a touring or comfort shock like a sensa-trak or Monroe matic?
Do not get Bilsteins or Ranchos. If you do you will come back with the hatin' for the people that recommended them.

Next, someone will post "It rides like a truck because it is a truck - deal with it"
F them. My Dad's 1 ton 4x4 dually rides like a Caddy.

I just put Garbiel max control on. I like them. A lot better handling and ride.

I've owned a 02' level 2 since new with Bilstein's. I also owned a 99' XLT with whatever Ford put on the offroad model. Anyways, the 99' shocks where stiffer and the truck handled well at speed on the highway/streets, offroad they worked great too.
Now for Bilstein's. They feel like they are on a 70's boat type car, they float down the highway and the truck sways at speed, kinda scary at times if you are going 75+mph. Offroad and pulling into driveways, the truck bounces big time.
Bottom line, on a FX4 level 2 with Bilstiens, the truck bounces down the road, the 99' XLT Offroad shocks where stiffer and better for the highways.
Offroad on the Bilstein's was ok, bouncy, but got it done on CO backroads/4x4 trails. I have 130,000 miles on them, so I can say they did last and bounce the same way as new.
I'd like a slightly stiffer shock, not as stiff as the stock 99' offroads, extended cab vs. 02' FX4 level 2 Bilsteins, any suggestions??? Thanks for reading!
