Default i need the solution now!

After yanking my doors off last week and being a hillbilly I decided I am going to put my doors back on before I take her out to thedunes and grand haven this weekend with the lady friend. I put them on and remembered why I took them off in the first place. My driver door won't close. The latch in the door doesn't lock into place or anything. Any tips? I have to figure it out tonight btw... please hurry

First, you need

Then, you need to take a look inside the latch and look for broken parts/binding. Spray the hell out of your latches with WD40 or similar. Clean them up good.

Does your door handle still feel firm?

Will it move at all? Can you spray it then try moving it with a screwdriver?

If i remember correctly. there is a lever in the mechanism when you flip it up (with the door open), the latch acts as its closed. so when you slam the door shut it will just bounce back at you. this happened to my previous car and i had to fumble with the latch till i got it to flip the correct way. i believe there is 3 positions for it(could be wrong).

What's happening is the latch won't go to the locking point. It is easy to move through all 3 stages. It won't catch.

when my door wouldnt latch the lock part went down SUPER hard but then it would shut. if that doesnt work you'll probly have to take the interior panel off and take a look.
