Could have said

I wish not to receive private messages. I am wondering how to disable them. I do not wish to view subject matter that is not kid friendly.

I'm wondering as a moderator how much thought you put into your reply.
As you know s*&#! happens. I hope you misread my question.
My computer is in an open situation in my home. IE: viewable by my wife and kids. I'm not able to determine what private message is indicated when the notice appears. Pics of young attractive women were out of my comport zone.So long story short I tried to be diplomatic and even poked fun at my self my saying how I can get in trouble all by myself.
I would be very interested in how you would've handled it.
respectfully submitted,
Typed words can and do get misunderstood from time to time. From my point of view the original post you made here was a bit confusing. Now, this post expalining it better, definately defines what you mean in that manner. I can understand your point of the kids and wife being present, I have 3 kids of my own. So some threads are marked NSFW, means not safe for work, wife or kids so I wont open it around the family. As far as private messages, you will get a pop up box stating you have one prior to it just popping open and nothing like those pics are sent around or anything like that. If people ask to be your friend on here, it is totally YOUR option to accept or decline. Its a good site, stick around and once you learn more about it you will see what I mean

I don't want to disable all private messages.
FTR I do not want to be excluded from all private messages. Also, I was quite surprised to receive the "friendship" requests as the result of joining the group. I've been part of a lot of groups and it never happened before.
So what do ya say Mr Moderator? I think you can find bigger fish to fry.
I'd like to get back to learning about my new Ranger.

Thanks for your note. I not familiar with the NSFW indication. Does that appear in the e-mail notification or in the post itself? I didn't mean the pics just popped up. As of yet, I'm not able to tell the difference between private friendship notices and private notices.
A member explained how I could disable the friendship requests and I think I've done that.
I thought a private notice was sending a reply to an individual member so not to burden the whole board. What is the method to seek more information on a topic that may have been addressed before?

I didnt know what NSFW meant either but The heading on the actual thread will show it if the creator is kind enough to fore warn everyone. Any kind of private message you will get a little pop up box saying you have a message from _____, then you can click the box to take you to that message. Friend requests or any other notifications you may get will be under your notifications under your name, top right side. Click that, a drop box will come down and you will be able to click on what ever the notification is listed as

[quote=RTimothy;471342]Hi folks,
this group really looks great and good look'n young women are perhaps very nice to look at. But hey, I really don't need the pics and friend requests. Cripe, I'm probably old enough to be their grandfather.
Are the requests an extra benny of the group? I can get in enough trouble - - all by myself. I don't need any help.
welcome and enjoy the sites!

Anytime, it should be at the top of the page, no matter what page you're on, under your username

If i'm not mistaken, somehow I have mine set to where the pop up indicators are checked off, so I have to keep checking the top right corner for new messages. I find pop up screens annoying.

Welcome to the site O.P.
