Default Re: 3.0 vs 4.0

Yea and the 4.0 can get 20+ with a stick as well. The auto kind of kills it.

If you want to compare everything else as well

4.0 comes with the 5r55 or HD manual and 8.8"
3.0 comes with a 5r44 or standard manual and the 7.5"

So nothing in the drivetrain is better with the 3.0 either.

I actually get the same wih my 32's as I did with the stockers. But I also have 4.10 gears and a tuner that I got the same time as the tires. 16 is also my daily driving average. I worked out at the beach one week and drove the freeway 30 miles one way each day with my 32's and averaged at 19 that week. Its all in the type of driving. But yeah, my average city/freeway mix is ~16.

I have a 99 with a 3.0 and a 96 with a 4.0. Both are 2wd and extra cab. I use the 3.0 for commuting to Cali and back due to the mileage. The 4.0 is set up for desert with beams, coilovers, cage, etc etc. I enjoy both for what I use them for.

I'm symbolically waving a BS flag too. And I find it hard to believe you've even races so many other Rangers to make that statement.

I agree!!

I beat my friends that have 4.0's(extra cab/auto/long bed) lol. I average 21ish mpg towing a loaded trailer(2500lbs) everyday for work and it does it no problem.
