^ This may be the best way to go - if you can find something in decent drivable shape, it may be that you'll be further up the ladder than you are now.

I've known a lot of guys who have done similar things to what you are thinking about - it just amounts to virtually doing a complete build - they chip away at it and in the end, more often than not, the vehicle sits for long periods of time, and in some cases, ends up being abandoned.

All in all, it's easier to get something that is at least in drivable condition - a lot easier to keep it running and improving on it at the same time than the job you're thinking about.

What you're looking at, my friend, is a money pit with no guarantee of a drivable vehicle at the end of the rainbow.

Don't mean to discourage you, whatever you decide, good luck - I'm sure you'll get lots of support from everyone on the forum whichever way you decide to go.

Ok, that's good. It's just that on a major re-build, there's bound to be "down time" with the vehicle as you do your repairs.

The trick is to keep the vehicle as roadworthy as possible through the stages so that you don't let it go derelict - that's the danger I was trying to warn you about.

So where to start - I would advise to start with the safety stuff - stuff you need to do to keep it drivable, and chip away at the other stuff.

Good luck on your project.
