Default Ta Da! The Antique Ranger is just about finished. Pictures available at site.

Hello everyone,
It's been a while since I last posted or been on here. I have been busy with the restoration and working, and all the other things that come in between such a project.

I am happy to state the Ranger is finished, excluding a small area painting on the under carriage, and a few things on the engine. But the re-building of the engine is planned but not this year.

The grille has a new paint job. I contacted Rust-Oleum and asked if there was a proper way to use the oil based paint on plastic. They sand to use their plastic primer, which allows oil based to use on plastic.

The grille is close to the original gray. I had to use Hunter Green and Red and White to make the Gray, The white was to find the shade of gray close to the original factory Gray. I also included the black around the headlights and the inserts are black also. Wish I had a better looking Ford emblem. Anyone have one they want to donate?. I'll pay for mailing, and even pay for the bag... LOL..

Painted the two fire walls, and some of the parts inside the engine compartment. Cleaned it up a bit.. When I get the engine rebuilt, the polution pump will be new, and the holding arms for the alt and air compressor and such will be painted. The block will be red, and the intake will be blue. But thats not on the schedule until a year or so.

I also re-painted outside because I wanted some more coats, and I thought I can do a better job on the paint. And I did.

have a look...

Have a happy...

Very nice work man. Not too many people restore them to the original condition these days. Most people usually go for the old F100, but this is nice and alot different than the usual run of the mill stuff that you would normally see. About how long has this project taken you to do and when do you expect it to be finished? And what engine are you planning on using?

Looks great. I had a 84 as my first truck in 1993. Miss it. I used to beat the crap out of it and it never left me stranded.

Thank you.. The project started last November. getting the engine running was first on the list. Took me into january for getting the engine running enough for moving around the driveway. Then it was hunting, and problem solving with the engine. The frezing weather had an impact on working on it.

I am finished for the most part. Body and under. I just have about 2 hours work left to finish painting in the middle on the drivers side under. Someone also pointed out the windshield paint needs to be touched up. I had that in the back of my mind last week but due to my age LOL It's slipped out and hasen't returned. I am now planning on re-painting the windshield frame gloss black to match the rest of the black.

The engine is planned to be re build. That will have to wait for a year or so. It's the original engine, and I plan to keep it that way. 4C 2.0 carbed. I am told it's the last of the carbed engines.

In one of the car shows, some one said "Where's the engine?. I don't see it". I replyed: "it's that hunk of metal there. It says Briggs and Stratton on the top". We both laughed. So many people want to see a 4.0 or something like that under the hood... Nope, not going to happen.

The one thing I was thinking when I desided this was my restoration vehicle is there are so many beaters of this model, souped up, modifyed to the gill, but I bet there are few in original condition, much less in show condition. Can you imagine 20 years from now what kind of people this truck will attract?. I have signed and dated a small area under. I will also be a part of history once this truck passes to another. Probally when I pass on. That alone feels good.

Thank you. Fresh from the factory, that's the image I was hoping for. The one thing thats cool about this truck is the year. Why do I say that?. Well sir. It isen't old enough to get everybody eye, but, it's old enough to get some peoples eye. The eyes (QQ) it does get, are "special" eyes because they know..

I'll tell you one of the things I like to do with the truck... There are convenient stores around here, like 7-11 but not 7-11's.. About once a week on the week end I'll drive on over and get a parking spot in front of the doors. I get my drink, and stand and "hang out" at the corner of the store where the trash can is, watching people as they pass the truck.

Some people coulden't care less because they don't know.. But some people do stop and look. I had one guy went as far as bent over and looked in the cab. put his hand up to the window to defray the sun reflection. I have a small sign on the dash it says "Look under too". And some people do look under. I heard one guy say, out loud to his friend as he looked under the chassey "Holy sh%$,... nice truck!".

Even driving around. People point, other cars slow down passing you, while other cars wiz on by. Not everybody see's the truck as a antique, but there are enough of people whom do.

I know I said a lot, but, your comment "Fresh from the factory". Is absolutely the effect I am looking for.
