Default Had a bad experience at the Ford Service department today.....

This isn't the first time that i have had a bad experiences and after the first time i swore i would never go back. Well i did and the old saying Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me comes into play and i feel super stupid and super pissed. So i took my truck in to have the oil changed and have new tires put on well i left the truck there as i had a doctors appointment and my fiancee picked me up and dropped me off well when i got back turns out they didn't put on the right tires that i ordered they went behind my back without calling me to authorize it and put new breaks on and then went on to replace the fuel filter. I was raging pissed i mean i understand it probably needed this but for this shit i have a mechanic that i go to specifically for all of that and so a $400 job turned into a $1100 job and then they had the balls to tell me they were perfectly within there rights to do what they did and that i had to pay them or they would call the cops i was floored so i told them no need i would call them for them. Really bad day and ruined a perfectly good day.

They can not do anything to your vehicle you did not authorize. They can "suggest" things to do. But not do them with out your written or verbal consent. Unfortunately for you, they did the work, and now they have what's known as a "mechanics lien" on the vehicle. I hope you involved law enforcement in this matter or legal methods. Because this is bullshit. If they did repairs to the vehicle that you did not authorize, above and beyond what they gave you a possible estimate for, then you rightfully do not have to pay for it, but you have to prove it, which can be the hard part.

Lesson for others, always get an estimate in writing from anyone you deal with concerning repairs to your car. I know there are always little charges here and there, say doing brake job on my truck, and the had to add a quart of fluid, this to me is an acceptable cost of doing the job. But you take it in, they quote you for 600 bucks on brakes, then replace everything, and the price comes to 1200 bucks... and they balanced, rotated, and changed your tires or something besides what you were wanting, this is not legal and they can not do it. Period. You are not responsible for this cost over the original estimate because you did not authorize that repair/replacement/service.

That is absolutely ridiculous. At the shop I work in if the car needs more work than it was quoted for or we cant do work that we were supposed to we have to contact them. If we can't get in touch with them for whatever reason we drop the car pend the work order and park it. Is there an update on the situation?

I'd get law enforcement involved on this one. They screwed themselves because any dealer has to show contact in one form or another before any work is authorized or done which they did not do at all. An attorney will be your best bet on this one. That's why I never go to a dealership unless it can't be helped and even then I am extremely picky when it comes to that.

I would paid with a credit card so I could contest the charges and got a lawyer. Filing a police report probably wouldn't be a bad idea either. They should have never did the work without prior authorization.
