OEM Cruise Control Retro fit?

I factory ordered my 1992 XLT Supercab back in the day and it has been a wonderful truck to own for almost 20 years. I have taken good care of it and plan to keep it for some time.

Unfortunately it was stretch for me to pay for it way back when so I dropped a few options like the cruise control and the power windows. I never missed the power windows but as I'm doing a lot more road trips with it lately I would really like to have cruise control on it.

I wonder if anyone has retro-fitted OE cruise control on their 1989-1992 vintage Rangers? I remember there were buttons on the steering wheel for this but I don't know what the other components were? Maybe I'm lucky and the wiring is all there, just add the buttons and some cruise module in the engine compartment and I'm set. Would appreciate if anybody knows. I seem to remember something about the cruise option being combined with the tilt steering column option but it was so long ago I'm not really sure. I don't have the tilt column so I'm hoping that's not a problem.

idk if ford prewired the 2nd gen rangers for stuff like that...i know some of the new ones are...look under the hood and see if you can find a connecter that doesnt go to anything...IIRC it is on the pass. side of the engine bay

Yes, I'm guessing they did things differently back then as well. What would the component that goes in the engine bay on the passenger side be called? Maybe I can find a picture of it and see what its connector looks like so I can see if I have a match.

it would be the Cruise control module

you should insure your ranger for a surprisingly large amount then burn it to the ground.

Then buy one with cruise.
