Dang good mpq.

My dad retired a delivery truck from his shop around the same time I was moving from Pittsburgh to Richmond, VA and he just gave me the thing to move and keep for commuting here. It's a rusty 1997 4cyl 5speed 2wd work truck with 150k miles and rusty steel wheels but it drives OK and gets great gas mileage. It's enough truck for me to do little projects.

I'm thankful for my dad this thanksgiving.

mine is a long story. lol but i will try to tell it. well i was a freshman in high school when i started to really think about getting something to drive. so when i started looking. i knew right off the spot that i wanted to drive a truck. one, reason being that our roads are always in bad condition an cars barely get by. an two, i wanted something i could put to work if the need ever came up. but anyway, i looked at the some of the auto books an seen the prices. i was like this. lol so i gave up on the idea. well a couple of weeks later i went to my uncle's house an i saw a white ranger by his barn. it looked sweet. but i was having to do something an i couldn't ask him about it. so a couple of days pass an i finally get to ask him about it. i was so exited thinking this might be it. cause he never did use it. an it looked so awsome. lol so i asked him, an he tells me he sold it... i was disappointed, but mostly i was mad at myself for not asking earlier. so i was back to square one. well a couple of weeks passed an i went to his house having to help him with something. by that time i have completely forgot about it an it was that last thought on my mind. when we pulled in the drive way there it sat. right by the barn like last time. i asked why it was here. he told me that the man who had bought it. had went up this really steep hill in overdrive. an blew out the heads an basically destroyed it. as he's telling me this i was thinking, dang i just can't get no slack on this. but anyway, the man took it back to my uncle an he agreed to take it. later that day i was looking at it just imagining how would be so cool to have running. my uncle must have saw this and he walks an stands by me. were both looking at it an he says, u really like this truck don't u? i tell him i really do. then he says, what would u do with it if u got it running? i told everything i would use it for. going from projects to being my daily driver. i would use it for all this if i had to money to fix it. well my uncle says, clint, if u really want to do this why don't u work for me an i'll take the money u earn an put it into getting it running again. i agreed on the spot an the deal was struck. so i worked for a year in 90 plus degree heat an in -40 degree cold with no extra pay. all of it going into the truck's heads repaired. then for the next 3 years whenever i would get any extra i would put it into getting the truck road worthy. i would do most work on my own changing parts an learning the tools of the trade from my uncles. they would help me if i got jammed an completely clueless. which was most of the time. lol then they tought me how to drive a stick in it. there was few close calls in that. lol but over an all it took me 4 years to get him running again. but along the way i learned the basics of how working on a motor and learned how to drive a standard in it. buts that how i got my ranger.

My wife found it for me at a dealer. She was driving past a dealer saw a red truck with chrome bumpers and liked it. We went up there the next day and drove it home.

I was looking for a vehicle at the same time I was buying a motorcycle. A friend of my dads owned a used car dealership and told him that he had a ranger. Went and test drive it and it reminded me of a ford explorer sport that I had and bought it cash. It happened to be the same color grey as the Harley that I bought too. First truck I have ever had. All jeeps and sub before that also a vw thrown in there too

Walked into Hackettstown Ford, found 6 or 7 of them in the lot, picked out the 4dr one and told them what I'd pay for it (retarded low ball offer), 2 days later they called and said it was a go. The dealership closed it's doors forever 5 months later. Guess they just wanted the lot empty, I win.
