I had just gotten a new job with a 30 minute commute each way. I had had my old 90 ranger for 14 years and it was on its last legs. Carmax had this one and a blue tremor, so I got the 4x4 steppie with 17k miles on it. Loved it ever since.

It's hard to believe it was almost 7-1/2 years ago!
1) Faxed my order to Green Mountain Ford in East Dorset, VT
2) Posted an add on Autotrader.com for my beloved '00
3) Took a $1000 cash deposit on my '00 from a guy from Connecticut with the stipulation that he couldn't pick it up until my new one arrived. He was buying it for his 16 year old son.
4) Waited like 8 weeks!
5) Got a call from the dealer when i arrived at work
6) Called the guy who was buying my '00, said he was heading up from CT with his trailer as soon as he hung up the phone.
7) Buyer arrived at around 11:30; peeled off $11000 in cash; loaded the '00 onto his trailer and headed back to CT.
8) Got a ride to the dealership after work
9) Gave salesman $12,000 in cash, filled out a bunch of paperwork, financed $9,000.
10) Drove it home
11) Paid it off in 2-1/2 years
Sitting in my driveway with just under 70,000 miles on it and with a dozen car show trophies to it's credit.

Craigs list , 91 ext cab , 4.0 auto, was asking 1200 offered 900 and he took it. 2 plug wires were swapped, the driveshaft was phased wrong and the power steering pump was leaking. After a fan clutch, ac compressor, headliner, dash and radio bulbs, new tires, new front rotors and pads and a passenger door lock motor it's now my daily driver.

I'm going to make my own thread about the driveshaft phasing, the black radio display bulb repair, door lock motor and most of all, what fixed my timeing clatter on my 4.0.

I needed an extra car, and was looking at a sonoma my dad's co-worker had. It was a p.o.s and he wanted way too much for it. Then I found out one of my dad's friends had a 96 ranger he was selling, and all he wanted was enough money to move with his family in texas. I got it for 500. All I've had to do is get a motor mount and the corner lights. Which I just ordered for less than 40 bucks. It runs great, and I'm stoked! Oh, and I found the car in Colton, Ca.

had sold my van and looking for a truck for a few weeks. spent 3 hours a day easily looking on craigslist, ebay, autotrader, wherever they sold cars. in the u.p. and downstate. went home for spring break, checked out a few trucks that all ended up shitty, and left for tahoe for a week of snowboarding. still looked at trucks out there, and when i got home had two days to look at what i found. spent the whole day saturday looking, no luck. that night saw a new post on the list, thought it was a spam because it was a grand cheaper than anything else. went and looked sunday, turned out to be a great truck with a few issues, and decided i wanted it. skipped class monday to stay home and buy it and do the minor repairs i could. 6 hours after buying it i was on a 450 mile trip back to school with it

I was tired of the 12MPG I was getting in my old truck, plus it had 300+K miles on it, so I traded it in during a special deals week where they gave me 30% more trade in value. Walked thru the lot and liked a Ranger, drove it home that day.

Was shopping for a super duty, because my 94 ranger was having problems and I was sick of dealing with it. My dad owed me quite a bit of money. So he gave it to me to pay me off. And saved me a BUNCH of money in the long run. Cuz diesel got expensive right after I got it lol

I bought the '98 with a shot engine and have been fixing it up ever since. It's good mechanically but the body needs work.

I bough the '11 brand new from a buddy of mine who used to work at a dealership before he was "downsized".

im 15, but bought a 91 dodge shadow turbo convertable thinking i was going to use it, and one day it rained(top was new) and my car had 3 inches of water in it...i told my dad i wanted a truck, so we looked at a salvage lot. my only wants i needed was 4x4, sliding back window, ex cab, and no black vehicles. looked at a 2001 edge 2wd ex cab in black. my dad was talking with the salvage lot owner, when he got a call from his son that he just bought a 2002 ranger ex cab 4wd in silver...base model truck, but it had the sliding back window and auto trans. bought it 5 months later fixed and ready to go for $3100. btw, truck only had 70,000 on it.

1988 ranger regular cab short bed, black with ghost flames on doors and hood, roof visor, bug sheild, 3/4 body kit (Front and sides but not back), 2.8L carb. engine, 5 speed tranny, no rust and lots of fun.
One of the dads involved with my boy scout troop had it, he drove it for about a year and ran it into the ground, the winshield got busted out and he parked it next to his house. I drove past his house everyday, after about a year I stopped and asked him if he wanted to sell it. $300.00 and a test drive later I drove it the mile and a half home (Barely made it) and started the rebuild, totally gutted the interior and redid it, rebuilt the entire front suspension, new brakes all around, new tires all around, rebuilt carb, rebuilt/replaced most of the extremities to the engine (Alternator, plugs/wires, etc), new windshield, 8-ball shift knob, a bunch of other stuff, and drove it for about a year. I ended up with about $1500 in the truck all together, definitely worth it. Broke down right before I was going to park it last winter (electrical problems, not getting spark) I haven't had time to work on it since between work and college (Sucks growing up) and now it's for sale.
It was my first vehicle, and I loved driving it, would still drive it if I had the time to fix it.

Found it on craigs list posted for 2500$

abs light on
brake light on
check engine light on
out of inspection
headliner falling down
no heat.

89000k miles,clean no rust
offered 500$ and he took it.

poured some brake fluid in it and the brake light and the abs light went off, changed the sparkplugs and the check engine light went off.stapled the headliner up.and changed the thermostat anti freeze and took it for inspection passed and now I have put about 1000miles on it and all is good.

might be my best deal yet!

I was driving my '95 nissan pickup until it blew up one day. One week later, me and my parents went to one of the dealerships in town and I told the salesman I wanted a pickup and he told me they had a ranger they just bought so we all went to look at it and I fell in love with it so I started making payments on it. I love it. It's so good on gas and hadn't ran out of gas ever since especially when I'm driving at least 30-40 miles a day with a quart of gas.
