Had a 1998 ford ranger 3.0 ext cab 4x4 truck for 4 years. It proved to be an excellent truck only repairs i had to make were: changing the brushes in the altenator, and my battery. then the general maintenance. oil changes, plugs, wires, and air filter. It was a dam good truck. Inspired me to get another ranger just 10 years newer.

wrecked a chyrsler sebring on the freeway, and then my parents said i should go buy a truck and that they would co sign it (which was weird cuz it wass 2 weeks after my accident) lol bodyshop fixed sebring, sister bought it and i got a truck! (also got it way before the car was fixed up haha)

moral of the story...wreck ur current car and get a truck! haha

----------

i hated driving a car anyways lol even tho it was sorta fast

i was looking around for a good 4x4 to get to work in the winter in snowstorms, ect. anyway, i was totally broke at the time, but had a job and needed something reliable, and after talking to my grandfather he agreed to loan me up to $4,000 if i found something decent.

meanwhile, a co-worker informs me of this bright red '84 ish jeep pickup sitting near his house for sale that's " beautifull", and one weekend i head out to take a look. turns out it's a bright red J 10 with a white cap, new BFG all terrains, tan interior, AMC 360, auto trans, auto hubs, and only 25,000 ORIGINAL miles!!!! i manage to talk the guy down to $2800!!! too good to be true! had to return later that week after telling my grandfather i had found "the one" and never left a deposit.... well POOF the truck's gone, eather sold or the owner had a change of heart! damn!!

so i started looking around again, almost wound up buying a '92 F150 that was fairly nice for the price, 8 foot bed, extended cab, 4x4, skyjacker 3" ish lift, modular chrome wheels 302, auto, 4x4, and other goodies, but needing work ( tires ( big mud terrains too), brakes, cleaning) and the cab corners had mabe 2 years left before major attention was needed. guy wanted $1200.

out of the blue, my grandfather calls up and says he's been thinking of selling his ranger. had my heart set on fullsize but i know he's got one hell of a truck. so playing it cool i ask how much.... he say's for me, $5. some of the best news i've ever gotten.

he was the truck's original owner, it was his company truck that was given to him when he retired. he was given a $25,000 limit to order what he wanted, and got my '00 XLT with the 3.0, auto trans, 4x4, regular cab, power windows & locks, cruse, tilt, CD radio, and a rear slider. came in at just over $20,000 according to the window sticker. then he got the bedliner, fiberglass cap, and a set of step bars installed aftermarket. the truck only had 67,000 miles when i got it last november

My '96 Pontiac Grand Am GT had taken a crap the week I got married in 2009 so I was riding my Harley to and from work for a week and on that Friday the clutch cable broke on the way home. I took it as a sign to get a new vehicle. The next day I bought my 2002 Ranger and have loved it ever since. I get married to the love of my life one Saturday and drive home with my new truck the next, is that perfect or what?

Bought it from a friend of the family who happened to be a mechanic. Had 40,000 miles on it at the time..(3 years ago). My first vehicle I ever had, and still have it!

drove through the local Ford Dealership back in September 08, Sara seen it and said that it was really nice. A week later i was hassling them on price. They wanted 17k for it with 25,000 miles. It was 1 1/2 years old then. I ended up walking out the door paying $14,500 for it

Looked at a bunch of F-150's for sale and I really didn't like them all that much and I have had a ranger before so i started looking on craigslist. Saw an ad on craigslist under for sale by dealer. Went to Sterling Heights and picked it up for $3200. That was a year ago on June 26.

Was looking for a good, somewhat fuel efficient truck, and ive always liked the rangers. 3 months of searching lead me to towing my b-series back to jersey from Tennessee.

I was a subcontractor for the Navy and working overseas. The military has a car buying program where you can get a really good deal on any US car. I've wanted a ranger since my dad had one when i was a kid. So i signed the papers, custom ordered everything i wanted in the truck and waited until i got back into the states 4 months later. When i got home my first brand new car was waiting for me and i've loved it ever since.

#1-1989 2x4 found as a lease turn in on a dealership back storage lot. Asked if they wanted to sell it, and they did.

#2-1994 2x4 used at a dealership.

#3-Private owner had it in the paper for $5500.00 back in 2002. I test drove it, and asked him what the least was he would take for it since we could now go ahead and argue over the price all day. He said $4500.00, so I paid him that. It had 72,000 miles on it when purchased. It now has 199,850 miles on it. Replaced one clutch, numerous brakes, oil changes, numerous windshield wipers, self tuneups done, on windshield number three, second set of tires (soon to be third). 4X4 never has worked, but it still goes wherever I need it to get me to. It's worth it since I haven't had a car payment since 2002.
