After my girlfriends intrepid blew the motor from sludge, we had to get another vehicle. We tried to get her a loan for my grand prix and I get a brand new car. Well since her credit isnt the best and with her student loans that fell short. So i started looking around for different vehicles and right around that time my grandma went to the nursing home and my dad and aunt sold her house.

Long story short my aunt had her ranger she was going to trade in and instead i purchased it from her. 1 owner low miles gararge kept and well maintained. I test drove a ranger about a week earlier from a dealer and they wanted almost double for 110k miles and it broke down on a 4 mile test drive.

My work purchased a 1999 Supercab Ranger new back in 2000 from the Ford dealership
I was the main driver and ALWAYS kept perfect maintenance
When the tranny gave out at 150k ,I purchased the truck for $1000
(it had just received new tires and a complete brake job)
I installed a new auto trans and was back on the road
One week later I got rear ended and received $2600 from the Insurance Co
( The dent doesn't look that bad so I never fixed it)

Basically I have driven my truck since it was first purchased

had a 2wd ranger with a 4cyl. loved it and hated it. so i wanted a 4x4 with a 4l cause thats all i needed. So i worked my ass off! overtime and many odd jobs. Plus i lost like 30lbs in the process from working so souble plus lol. then one day i found an ad on craigslist 2 hrs from me and it was near my sisters new house we were moving her into that weeked.

So i called the guy he said it going into auction tommorrow (YIKES) so me and my stepfather hurried up and went to llok at it. Learned it had a bad starter no big deal it started in front of us. So we taked him down to $1700 i paid $900 of it and my step father picked up the rest ( i almost got him paid off now) Pop started it drove to my sisters house let it sit in the yard. came back a week later with a starter and drove her home. almost got hit my a semi that night while drving home cause some dick head slammed his brakes on and slid into the middle of the road bringing all the highway to a stop and me almost wearing my new ranger and a semi. got her home and been loving her ever since!!!

I was driving down the street of a friends house when i noticed a cosmetically perfect oxford white 2001 ranger with a For Sale sign in the window, so i asked my buddy to check it out. When i originally called to ask for the price, the guy was asking 5000 so i said screw it i cant afford that. About a month later (After drooling over it every time i drove down the street) My friend called me to say that the price had been reduced to 3500 and needless to say i had to get it. So i contacted the owner and got him down to 3000 and the rest is history.

I'd been scouring Craigslist for several months with no luck at all. All either too pricey or rolling wrecks...finally I put my own ad in Craigslist saying "Want to sell me your pickup?"
and within 2 days had 3 replies - one was a dude called "prince" who gave me a ghetto address for his "friend" who wanted to sell his truck - I passed on that one...
A lady emailed me with a description and was pretty close to me as well. I looked it over, they were a retired couple and it was his "pick-em-up truck" and looks it, interior was solid but VERY grubby, so soon I paid up and it was mine...

my wife and I decided we needed to get rid of one of our "fix weekly" vehicle and get a dependable one. so I convinced her it should be me since I have a longer drive for work. we started looking for trucks and found the one I have now. traded in my old ranger and my Saturn for my 2007 ranger.

The first vehicle I ever bought on my own was a new Ford Ranger in 1990. Ford had a college graduate program for people just out of school with a degree and a job, but with little credit in their own name.

Fast forward to 2011:

I was surfing the net and came across this site and it really got me to thanking about how much I loved that 1990 Ranger. Just a few days after joining FRF, My 2010 Nissan Xterra was totaled during severe weather and my wife and I replaced it with a new 2011 Ranger 2WD Sport. I'm so glad that I discovered FRF because it made me start thinking about Rangers and had I not found this site, we would have bought a 2011 Nissan Frontier to replace the Xterra.

I LOVE MY RANGER and have gotten nothing but thumbs-up from my friends and family.
