Re: thinking about buying a 99 ranger
I own a 99 white ranger auto, but mine is only a 3.0 and has 155k
I knew mine was in need of a tranny when I bought it for $1000
I got an ok deal, but I think manual tranny's last longer myself!
$3000 is alot if you think the tranny needs replacing!

Re: thinking about buying a 99 ranger
if you can, try to find a 2001+ 4.0. the sohc has about 50 more HP than the OHV of a 1999.

Re: thinking about buying a 99 ranger
wow yea you'd think so.
usually auctions sell stuff for pretty cheap.
id see if you could work him down a little bit, dont pay retail or close to it.
my rule of thumb is to always buy something that down the road you can still get your money out of it/make a buck.
totally up to you though man, hope it all works out!

whats $500 difference on a 12 year old truck thats been painted on, its not worth $3000 so if he doesnt cut you a deal, he can stick where he puts his thumb most of the time . I wouldnt pay more then $2300 for it.
