Default 1992 model

Hello, I am new to the site and lookk forward to the exchange of information.

I have a 92 Ranger, 4 cyl with 4 speed and over drive.

My headlights when I select brights soon start flickering along with all dash lighs and quickly quit working completley. I had an 18 wheeler pull over the other night I guess thinking I was the law or something. If I leave the high beams on for a minute or 2 all lights quit completley. Switching back to low beam does not correct the problem. Shutting the lights off completley for a few minutes corrects the problem but will repeat again if I go to high beam.

Light switch on the dash?
Column selector?
Relays?

I don't know where to start. Anyone else experienced this poltergeist?
Thanks

I am guessing some kind of resistance. High beams work normally for short while then problems occur. I am guessing something warms up and then shuts down.

I can't imagine a loose grounfd only on the high beam side but I am not an expert for sure.
