Default Help me price my next Ranger!

Looking to buy a new-er ranger and retire my 1997 XLT. At what price range should I expect to find the following and what are your opinions for these particular years:

1. 2001 Ranger XLT, 4 dr, automatic, V6, 3.0L, 87K one owner

2. 2005 Ranger Edge Edition 4dr, 4x2, V6, automatic, 40k

Your input is greatly appreciated!

price varies greatly by area; a truck in one area might fetch $10k and in others $5k.

Which v6 is in the 2005? The only thing the first Ranger has going for it is being a one onwer truck, but I'd assume the second Ranger has only had one or maybe owners before hand. 2004+ had a revised interior and I personally like the 04-05 grills better than the 01-03's.

Craigslist in Riverside Ca says 2005 edges and otherwise are all under $10K. Most are between $6500-$9000.

I have a 2007 Ranger longbed with 100K on it and I couldn't get $6500 for it out here. The car market is in the toilet. If you have cash you are KING, do not pay too much as real buyers are far and few between

Where you live is going to have a great impact. 05 Ranger edge's 2wd are commanding 8-12k depending on if it's 2wd of 4wd.

Here in North Texas, the Rangers are demanding a great deal. From my research on Craigslist and other car sale sites, they go for over 2k compares to a F150 with similar miles. I could not budge a gentleman with a 2005 Edge with 40k to go under 12K (It was in beautiful condition). In general the Ranger market here is prime, with few exceptions obviously and good deals to be found. But they are few and far in between. Needless to say I ended up buying a F150 with 47k in extra mint condition for 10K out the door, and so far I'm getting 19 mpg. I still have my "Heineken on Wheels" and intend on getting her back to tip top shape!!!

Low mileage has nothing to do with number of owners. My truck had 42,000 miles when I bought it, and it had 3 previous owners.

I paid $8K before down payment for my 03 Supercab Edge 4x2 4 door with a 3.0 and 42,000 miles. But that was after I haggled with the dealer for an entire week, and I had to prove to him that the vehicle was in need of a few repairs before I got the price down that low. He was asking $10K for it.
