Re: How many miles do you have on your Ranger?
2004 Ranger 4cy, Manual trans, 163,000 miles. Doesn't burn oil, runs great. It was well taken care of by a local company that used it for a parts runner PU. I replaced the front upper and lower ball joints and cleaned up a few scratches in the paint.

Re: How many miles do you have on your Ranger?
304,200 as of January 15, 2018.
Running well, original engine, uses maybe one quart of oil per 1,000 - 1,500 miles. Automatic trans rebuilt once. I'd like to repaint it, paint on horizontal surfaces wearing away. Recently upgraded backup monitor from 3.5-inch screen to 5-inch screen.
I have a 2015 VW GTI and a 1988 VW Jetta. My favorite ride is often my 1993 Ranger.

Re: How many miles do you have on your Ranger?
2000 3.0 Sport XLT has 207k miles; Small oil leak of about a quarter size at most
2006 3.0 XL 7' bed just turned 200k miles; this one has a bigger leak maybe the size of a 2 or 3 quarters; I have a guy wanting to buy it but I ain't giving it up.

Re: How many miles do you have on your Ranger?
I have a 1998 Ranger, 3.0 engine. My mileage is now 271,300 , as of Jan. 28, 2018. It still runs great and passes smog with low emissions. I installed a bypass filter at 129,000, which keeps the oil cleaner, and allows longer change intervals.
I attribute the longevity to using high quality engine oil, an occasional flush, Wix oil filters, plenty of oil changes, and never letting the ignition system degrade.
I have also always used a top cylinder oil, such as Marvel, Red Line, Lucas etc. This, I believe, has kept the fuel injectors and upper ring area free from excessive wear.
The compression is only down 5% from new. The truck has served me really well.

Keeping the oil clean will minimize wear on the seals and sealing surfaces. Using High Mileage oil once per year, after the vehicle is 5 years old, is a very effective practice to keep seals pliable.
Once you have a leak, you will probably need to disassemble whatever is leaking, and replace gaskets and seals.
