Re: How many miles do you have on your Ranger?
~208,000
2006 FX4 4.0 SuperCab
2nd owner, just finished putting on a set of Bilstein 4600s and can't believe what an improvement it made in driving! (just did a 600 mile camping/hunting trip)
Work we've done since buying it with 202,000 miles:
- Bilstein 4600s front & rear (best price from Tirerack.com)
- Replaced Thermostat Housing with cast aluminum unit
- Full front brake job (w/new rotors).
- Replaced radiator with Spectra Premium CU2310
- Tightened loose pinion seal and flushed & refilled rear end (was causing whining noise and a "thunk" when taking foot off gas suddenly)
- Cleaned and greased outboard front axle CV joint assemblies (they had gotten pebbles in them causing scraping noises)
Runs and drives great. Needs a headlight upgrade, which I'm just starting to research.
It's my son's daily driver when he's home from college, and I use it on weekends for hunting and fishing trips.

For headlight upgrade I'd strongly recommend an HID retrofit like from theretrofitsource.com. If it doesn't seem like something you can do, a member here does them. Here is his thread Checking interest: Retrofitting services Don't just toss any other bulbs in the halogen reflector, as that is ugly and annoying to other drivers

Re: How many miles do you have on your Ranger?
New to Forum, not to Ranger... had a lifted 2003 4x4 with 4.0. 186,000 when cams took a dump (so, no, I don't care much for the 4.0). Sold it for an '01 F150 Supercrew 5.4, with 286,000, and still a good runner, but too big. Just a found a solid, 1993 Ranger XLT 4x4 3.0/Auto Supercab for $800 with, to your question.... drum roll, 216,000 miles. Great little truck, especially for the $$. So, yes, you can get a few miles out of a Ranger.

Re: How many miles do you have on your Ranger?
Just rolled past 150,000 on my 2011 2.3L 5-speed.
Just did front brake job with rotors. About to change tranny fluid and do spark plugs. Scared to do plugs since it has been so long and truck has ran great. Bought at 35k miles... I fear I have waited to long

Re: How many miles do you have on your Ranger?
Just turned 245K on my 98 4.0 2wd. All stock 'cept the wheels which came off a Mountaineer. Stupid chrome clad steel wheels warped like a Pringles...

Re: How many miles do you have on your Ranger?
2000 3.0 208k miles - small oil leak, auto trans not shifting very well but engine runs really good.
2006 3.0 211k miles - daily 1/2 dollar size oil leak, engine runs okay
Retired so not much driving here on out, I wish I could swap out the '00 trans with the '06 and have the best of both Worlds in one truck.

Wow. Curious what sorts of “failures” you’ve seen (if any). Which engine?
