Re: how many miles on your ranger?
To be fair, I'm on my 3rd clutch (only 2nd out of necessity), second engine (replaced with a remanufactured crate motor at 157,000, and second rear end (replaced the original with a junk yard rear end at about 140,000 miles. That rear end had maybe 50,000 miles on it at the time.
I've also replaced brakes, shocks, etc.

No offense meant to you at all, but thats pretty damn bad
I hope to hell mine does better. Ive already had to redo the rear end- it doesnt seem to me the open 7.5 is all that good as Ive seen many which needed rebuilding/replacing before 200k. The duratec im running SHOULD make 200k and maybe even 250k, and the transmission seems solid.
Whats with this rash of 3.0's needing engine replacements before 200k anyways? Ive always thought of the 3.0 vulcan, the 4.0 ohv and the 2.3l lima as some of the most reliable engines ever built (bar the 300 cu in inline 6). Yet ive seen at least 5-6 mentions in the last few weeks scattered over various sources with the 3.0 taking a dump before 200k.

Re: how many miles on your ranger?
No offense taken.
My original clutch slave cylinder went out around 120k miles, and i replaced it all.
My rear differential got a leak and I ignored it until it was too late.
The engine...well, I was alway diligent on maintenance, but the exhaust valves sucked up into the head. Rather than just doing the heads, I put in a reman create engine. While I had the engine out, I replaced the clutch again, just because it was easy access.
I'd say that even with all of the work I've done, I've gotten my money's worth. I bought the truck in 2002 with 16,000 miles on it. I've maybe put $4000 in non maintenance repairs in the last 13 years.
It's a hell of a lot cheaper than a car payment.

Yeah, it is worth it especially when you can do it all yourself. Not raggin on the choice to fix it, just surprised me is all.
And I think im going to need to do my clutch slave before too long as well..

06 2.3l xl standard cab.
62,341.
Just just got it in trade for an old Harley. Can't wait to see the kind of miles most of you are talking about! Need to run through the whole thing though. Who knows what the previous owner did to her.
