Default Sport FX4 vs XLT 4x4

Looking to buy a brand new Ranger, and the dealer helped me work out a price that I can either get the Sport trim with the FX4 Offroad package or the XLT trim with 4x4 at the same cost. Wondering which would be more cost-effective? Also the FX4 come with a higher Limited Slip Ratio, which I heard decreases mileage?

Thanks in advance.

Any particular reason why? I was thinking the same thing. It seems that package has alot more to offer. The only thing the XLT has that I prefer is the chrome grille and step bars. I guess thats always something I can do aftermarket, though...

Good stuff. I think I'll probably go for it. Maybe I'll look into the adding the step bars into the build. Not too worried about the chrome grille right now. Any word on how the Limited Slip will affect my mileage, though?

all that stuff is interchangable. easy to do. and Limited slips dont help mileage. Gears do effect MPG in a small way though.

its pretty much minimal tho but if ur seriously worried about it then id get the non l/s one but imo the l/s is worth the MINIMAL mpg drop

i cant tell u how much of a difference it is tho lol

If it's that small of a MPG drop, I'm sure I can make up for it when I throw the CAI in. I'm sure it's worth it. No point in getting the offroad package without the Limited Slip, right? :P

It is one of the sexiest rangers for sure.

----------

also dont buy the CAI. Get a programmer. Then the CAI AFTER you throw a tuner in it.

A programmer? I apologize I don't fully understand all the parts and mods just yet. This is going to be my first truck (second vehicle ever). Also going to be the first time I'll be doing my own mods. I'm excited but there's alot to learn!

This looks great: http://www.sctflash.com/products.php?PID=11&VID=

On the front page for the SCT site, though. It doesn't let me search for Rangers. The only Ford vehicles searchable are "F-Series", "F-Series Superduty" & "Mustang". Will this still be compatible with the Ranger?

They do have a ranger option. It just depends on the year of your truck as they dont make tuners for all years. The tuners are vehicle specific.
