Train/Air Horn Kit question
I have always wanted an air horn. And i think this is the one i want but i have ran into a problem. I have no idea where i can mount the air tank. does anyone know if this will fit underneath anywhere or what? because i have a toolbox so i can't really mount it in my bed..

Re: Train/Air Horn Kit question
the a/c compressor can be converted to use as a normal air compressor, but that's a pain, since you can't use the a/c or defrost.
i have heard of people just mounting an air tank, sans compressor, and refilling it at home. that way you can put it under the truck somewhere without worrying about it getting messed up by water, etc. if it were the whole compressor. and it makes no noise. obviously, if you run out of air, you're done, though.

Re: Train/Air Horn Kit question
i could throw a tank in my bed, cause i can use it to fill up tires, and the compressor id mount in the engine bay somewheres. i dont have a tank mounted yet, just measured for it.

Re: Train/Air Horn Kit question
THAAAT's California for ya lol.
Took for train horn? SHould have welded the bolts !
I run my A/C compressor as an air compresson my other vehicle, and it's very reliable for running air tools on the trail, airing up tires, etc, don't really need a horn on that one though, it gets enough attention as is.
Back to the OP's question::
Mount it UNDER the bed, there is room just get innovative, probably more side on pass/exhaust then driver/fuel tank.
As far as running a re-fillable tank, why not just get a CO2 tank like for scuba diving and use that?
That way you can have a very small tank, that's at 2-3000psi, and will run air tools/air up tires and not being running home every few minutes to fill it up. It'll last you a whiiiiiile before your down to 100-200psi and need to refill it. Just make sure to have a GOOD regulator!

Re: Train/Air Horn Kit question
do you have a spare still under the bed? TRS i believe has a really good write up in the tech section. http://therangerstation.com/Magazine...train-horn.htm i know its not FRF but they do have quite alot of tech on there.
