People's personal definitions of what to call various useless components does not change anything. An intake that draws fresh outside air is a CAI. It does not matter where that stupid thing's intake opening is, whether it is low, high, middle, up on the roof, or behind the truck attached to a damn trailer. The air temperature is the same.

The stock intake is drawing in fresh outside air. It is big enough to flow all the air you'll need, especially a little 2.3. Adding a bigger pipe will not magically make the engine need and therefore use more air.

As has been suggested, an SCT tuner will make a some real measurable differences for you.

AirBox Mod? I mean it doesn't do much. But I think it helped my truck overall in some way.
