Default Gearheads

While we're all wrapped up in "what kind of light bulbs?", "how bigga' tires...." there's a whole world out there we're missing. I was going to put in a plug for the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI until I checked the website.
"Automobile in American Life", one of the most significant exhibitions of its kind in the world, is getting a complete makeover until 2012. Imagine examples of the most innovative cars every year for over 100 years. Not just Fords either. Hundreds of millions of $$ worth. If I were near there I would go for the tons of other stuff but this being a vehicle forum I would recommend waiting until next year.

Myself, I'm off to Oshkosh, WI this summer for the Experimental Aviation week. Once again hundreds of millions $$ worth of the finest inovation, war-birds, antiques and home-built aviation on the planet.

How about Don Garlitz museum of drag racing in Ocalla, Fl? Been there. Awesome! Then head over to Datona when there isn't a race for a great visit to one of the most awsome racetracks in the world. Museum? Of course.

Been to a NHRA national drag race in your area? Feels like a stampede of horses running across your chest when a double A Fueler flies past. Get a pit pass. Watch 'em tear down engines between every run.

I always visit the local dirt track at least once a summer. Lakeside in Kansas City, Kansas. Ten bucks for great seats. Track full of $5,000- $30,000 engines on a dirt track that never slows down. Makes NASCAR races look like watching paint dry. There's one near you, too.

Antique Motorcycle Rally over Labor Day weekend in Davenport, Iowa

Here are some on my must see list:

AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in Reynoldsburg, OH
Rock and Roll Museum in Cleveland
Dan Rouit Flat Track Motorcycle Museum Clovis, California
Indy 500 meseum.
National museum of the Air Force in Ackron.

For the cost of a cool air intake that doesn't work you can experience some of the best brain food for gear heads on the planet. Are you getting the idea?
