"A quick once over". What does that mean. Could mean anything. The time required to check suspension parts and brakes takes time, therefore $$ at shop rate. Did you expect to see that on your bill? Not likely. You went in ten days before your warranty expired asking that they find problems that they would have to fix. You're certainly an optimist there. Sounds like poor communications both ways. Would expect suspension wear parts to last over 100K but I'm not Ford an I. I would expect them from being excluded from warranty anyway as normal wear like brake pads. Maybe not. Follow-up inspector "dangerous" isn't a very quantitative assessment. He wants to rub it in that the oil change guy missed it unlike him, THE GREAT INSPECTOR.

Whether it's a Ford dealership, IBM or the US government chances are you are dealing with ONE GUY. If you complain then there is a SECOND GUY who, at a car dealership, job is to never give up a dime. Guys down the street? Probably the same.

Horror stories always make the news, the million of things that go right don't. At lest you aren't the guy that expects two head gaskets warrantied when one gives up. There's somebody looking at a life filled with disappointments.

Mine sure does indeed suck. Before it use to be alot like yours is now. But 2 people left and things went to hell in a hand basket. The last time I was there, they acted like I was talking greek to them, and the general response that I got was, "HUH"?, that told me as to why the other 2 people had left. Now my chevy dealer's service dept. is like your dealership. They're extremely nice and love what they do, plus I don't know of any master tech in there that has less than 6 years exp. They're also willing to do what alot of other dealerships won't do, such as V8 swaps in S10's and Ford Rangers which says alot right there.

I personally think somebody is full of it, or the people who make Ford ball-joints are full of it.
There are just under 90,000 KM on my truck. I use it to go back and forth to work. All highway miles...about 100 KM a day, 5 days a week, round trip.

I should clarify. I have used Ford service and parts for years. I have never had a complaint before, until this time. I probably over reacted, but the timing wasn't the greatest. My stepson and his girlfriend were in the hospital 300 KM away having their first child (my first grandchild). My wife and I were trying to get there before the baby was born, but I didn't want to risk the trip without getting the inspection done first, naturally it had expired the end of May.

But the good news is, we made it, the baby was born, and all is well...

Happy Fathers day to all the dads out there, especially my stepson, celebrating his 1st Fathers day.

So you jack your truck up every fill up to check ball joints?

Our dealership here is full of crooks. My girlfriend went over there with a coupon for a $20 oil change and they convinced her to buy a new battery for her Focus. I JUST bought that battery for her a year ago and they told her that's how long batterys last. I'm willing to bet they took her battery and either sold it or put it in one of their cars. I went to the dealership and confronted them about it, the only thing theyd do to compensate for their lie was another $20 oil change coupon. Whether you know something about cars or not, you shouldn't be stolen from when you go into a dealership. That's my two cents. lol

That's that thing i hate about our dealer. I know its money and profit is the game but just because its been 30K doesn't mean every fluid needs changing.

I don't think they really like the fact i never upsell stuff. I've been in school for a while now learning about everthing on a car the correct way. If trans oil isn't black and burned then it doesn't need changed. If it is, flushing the fluid technically won't help last that much longer. That being said i need to flush my power steering this week.

Its a tad darker than i would like and need to make serious use of my last week at the shop

I won't ever go back to a Ford service department again about a year ago when i was naieve about the ford service department i sent my ranger in to my local dealer to have about 1200 worth of work down from new set of tires new brakes oil change fuel filter and so on well two months later my engine light came on they sold me a pvc pipe that said would fix it for $200 that sure as hell didn't fix it so i had, had enough and took it into my fiancee's brother who owns a shop and fixed it for $50 i feel so stupid for trusting ford with my truck and won't ever do it again i got ripped off and felt like my balls had been snatched from me after all of that.
