Default Filling up at Valero today

So I went to get gas for the first time at Valero where I have credit today, and after I put the nozzle in and locked it, it would shut off after about 3 seconds. I ended up having to manually fill it with gas, guesstimating how many gallons I needed so I wouldn't over flow. I guess I better read the manual about how to get gas!

I'd blame the pump. I've had it happen at some pumps.

X2 Every once in a while you'll get one that will do that! I wouldn't worry about it, The gas station just needs to fix their pump!

Is your check engine light one? I know for me I have an EVAP problem I have yet to fix and pumps wont stay on because gas backs up in the fill tube. Mabey check that? Or like Tom said mabey its the pump. Has it happened before?

I always had that problem with my Rangers. Would always have to just hold it the whole time.

try pulling the pump out a little bit from the filler neck, but still letting the pump automatically fill

ive had that issue at every gas station in california. i think it has someting to do with the fumes sensor thing. but yeah i put it in and lock it, and then i hold it by the hose and lift it up about an inch. it works fine then.

i dont seem to run into this problem to much.. the one i seem to run into is the nozzles that are missing that little lock mechanism.. irritates the hell outta me to have to stand there and hold it while it pumps the 30 gallons into my tahoe.. takes FOREVER..

I'll try holding the hose out a bit. I often use that same pump and have been using Valero gas for years now. Thank for all the input!
