Default 89 ranger more wrong than I thought

So to add to my first post I have had to do alot more to my poor ranger than I first thought.. My first post.......water pump, thermostat, valve cover gaskets, alternator, coolant temp sensor, coolant temp sending unit, Oil change, oil filter, air filter, new brake master cylinder + bench bleed..obviously,front calipers and pads, rear drums, all lugs, wheel bearings repacked, tail lights, parking lights, headlight buckets and head lights, license plate lights, interior power windows ...motors...window tracks... power locks, seafoam with stabil in gas until i ran it out of gas and refilled it with premium, and just a touch of seafoam in the oil. The drum brakes gave me a run for my money.....I pulled the passenger side first(this is the first time iv replaced rear brakes without my dad....the last time was when I was 14) I pulled the drum and every spring went a different direction...into the yard the front driveway and directly into the right lines of my safety glasses..it hit hard enough to break my specs and make my brow sore as hell. I bought a hardware rebuild kit for both sides and replaced the springs and cleaned the living crud out of the rest.....the drivers side was even worse I removed the drum..only to realize that the parking brake had not disengaged at some undetermined point, grinding the shoes down to the point that it was almost metal on metal and the brake was not functioning at all...upon further inspection I found that the parking brake cable had rusted in the closed position while it was sitting...(this is the beauty of parking north to south in Missouri most of the rain will hit your west side...or so it seems). All of the springs rusted to the point that they almost fell apart to the touch. I also replaced both rear brake cylinders.....So this was friggin 5 times the work that I thought it would be....In other news in the last week I replaced my grandfathers intake gaskets in his Chevy Tahoe...having never worked on a Chevy in my life.....Im so glad I drive a Ford....Andy

thanks Rango88...this is why I joined this forum I had been poking around the net trying to find answers to no avail when I stumbled upon this site and got the info i needed in a no bs way. I have been really struggling with this truck man..its in real bad shape, though the engine purr's like a kitten. It needs new leaf springs among multiple other things and iv already put about 900 in it so at this point its no turning back..but its just such a great truck....Eventually ill post pictures for people to chuckle at...seeing the other trucks on this blog it seems that all of the serious restoration and or modification buffs come here.
