I am new to this forum, i woiuld like some info on a 07 ranger with 199000 Km on it & thinking purchasing. Is this a good idea?

Its service history is going to be the key here but there are plenty of Rangers on here with over 200,000 miles, like ~460,000KM.

It also needs to be low priced.

Just ask for paper work, with a lot of miles i've noticed a number of them have had a tranny either rebuilt or replaced. If it hasn't been done, it might be something that will come up.
Look for regular oil changes that were done on time, it definitely shows whether a owner knows what there doing when there done on time. Synthetic is good.
I dont know about what miles the water pump, fuel pump, timing belt needs to be replaced, i'd look into it and when you find out let me know cuz i'm in the search for one also haha

Thank you, if it is not sold will look into all suggestions. I just scrapped a 96 Mazda B4000 with 233000 Km,s. Had small oil leak but ran good, also very rusted.

When looking for a Ranger with higher mileage and an automatic transmission, be very wary of rebuilt automatic transmissions. The 4R44E-5R55E transmissions have had several minor-major Technical Service Bulletins issued that are best addressed when the trans is rebuilt. However, some trans shops do not address these TSB's, and they only replace what they see has failed. However doing this can be detrimental because the parts that are proven to wear out will wear out, and you'll once again have to drop the transmission and have those parts replaced. It's kind of like buying a house that was flooded, taking the drywall off, and installing new drywall, and calling it fixed. There is still mold on the wall frame, and it will cause more problems down the road.

Cypress, can you give us an idea of what your budget is, perhaps we could make suggestions.
