Default Halogen or HID Offroad Lights?

Which do you prefer at night when off-roading in the desert?

HID is gonna be a crap ton brighter but it'll also be a bigger bitch to wire... and probably more expensive. Just look at the jump you made from halogen to HID headlights....

Wiring shouldn't be any different at all. It is just 12 volt power and ground to the ballasts and the lights light up. I can not see any DISADVANTAGE to using HID off-road lights.

You can buy off-road lights that are made to be HID with the ballasts integrated. They usually cost some astronomically jacked up price for no reason.

Or you can do like I did... Use normal inexpensive halogen off-road lights and just replace the H3 halogen bulb with H3 HID bulb and use an external ballast. Just like a headlight swap. Dirt cheap.

There is literally no difference between the wiring in a halogen light and a HID light.

Retrofits are defenitely the best way to go. Same brightness and way cheaper

HID is worth it. Or you could go LED but with LED you will spend way more than HID.
