B.C. guy buying a 2011 Ranger 4 X 4

Hi guys,

I went to my local dealer yesterday tp price out a new Ranger.

Just over 20K for a V6 Sport w/auto. 800 bucks more for the power group.

Any Canadians think this is a good price?
Ford sticker was just over 28K but there is 5K off right off the top from Ford.
btw, that included freight but of course not the sales tax and a.c. enviro. fee ($100) and the dealer also wants to charge $395 documentation fee on that.

I'm looking to buy this month.
Also I want to do a cash no trade deal and it didn't seem to make much difference to them. Money from me or money from the bank, I guess it's all the same to the dealer.

Appreciate any advice.

20K is about what I paid for my ranger brand new in 2005. That was USD

Excellent price. Go for it. I paid that much for a 2008 FX4 loaded with 8K miles on it.

Yeah, I thought it sounded good.

I'll be heading back to the dealer on Monday.
If they have a white one with the power options, that will be my first choice but I'll see what they have left in stock.

With the exchange rate so close to par, what kind of extra taxes would you have to pay if you bought in Washington?

Also, there's a meet scheduled for July 11th in Oak Harbor

I don't know if it would be worth it. I'd have to check into warranty issues etc.
I have gone the US import route before when I imported a 911 3 years ago.
It was well worth it on that vehicle as I saved about 20K on a 2 year old one.
Porsche warranty is good in both US and Canada so that was not an issue. That is not the same for all manufacturers I know.
The only thing I had to do was get the daytime running lights turned on.
The speedo is digital so you just have to push a button to switch it over so no mods were required.
As an example of a bad one to bring in, I looked at bringing in a Merc and that is a big pain in the ass.
You have to change the whole dash template, bumper shocks and some seat belt anchors to make it child seat friendly.
I was quoted 12K on a CLS so that knocked out any savings I would have made.

It's easy to forget about those little differences that can turn into problems pretty quickly. I just took a quick look at a Bellingham dealership site there's a couple XLT 4x4s going for ~27k…23k for a V6 Sport 4x4 is a pretty good price IMO.

The more I look around and hear the more convinced I am that that is a fair price.
They are the biggest Ford dealer in B.C. (MSA Ford) so they quote an invoice plus price right off the bat and avoid all the back and forth.

I'll let you know how I make out tomorrow.
If they have a white 4X4 auto w/a.c. & power group I'll make the deal.

Y'know, I'm not really a fan of a bunch of the salesmen at MSA. Every time I've gone in there, they've been snobby and uppity.

Well guys, I'm now a member of the Ranger family!

I ended up buying from Magnuson Ford.
Spent a bit more than I originally planned cause I ended up buying a fully loaded one.
Apparently there were only 4 like it in Canada.

It's a Silver 4 X 4 Sport. auto. a.c. power group, sliding rear glass, cruise, sports bucket seats w/console, cd/mp3/sirius, full box liner, step sides and trailer hitch w/ 4 point plug.

Ford MSRP sticker was just over 30K.

Got it for $22750, so if you compare option to option it was 250 bucks cheaper than MSA would go. I'm happy with that.

It was in their off site compound so they will PDI it today and I'm picking it up tomorrow morning.

I'll put up some pics when I get it.

I'm obviously excited to pick it up tomorrow.
I test drove a similar blue one today and I have to say I was very impressed.
For a small 4 X 4, they ride very nice and quiet.
I was expecting a much bouncier ride.
Steering, brakes, handling all felt very good.
Just as good or better than my 2003 Chevy Avalanche.
It's for sale now btw.
