Well, to be honest, I am absolutely happy with the styling of my 03. I think it is perfect in every way. I just wish it had a 4.0 and 4x4.

At least they're color matched though. Those textured fender flares on the FX4 don't look right to me not matching the body color. Plus the edge version didn't have those alan hexhead bolts showing either.

She's not afraid to spin the tires when I make a turn with a little throttle.

You'd imagine so, but it usually starts at about 3k.

Plus people just don't have the money to buy a fullsize truck on a frequent basis either, especially in today's economy. That fact is not disputed either.
Interesting that you ask about an F100! Last Monday I rode with my friend to a local Ford dealer to pick up a brake pedal assembly for his truck. On the way out we walk over to look at the Ranger selection as a salesman walks up.

Joking, I told the salesman that I'll take one if he gave me 5k off and he took the offer! Anyway we got to talking about this being the last year of the Ranger and he said that Ford's replacement for the Ranger is a F100 which will be larger than the Ranger but smaller than the F150. Do I believe it? Nope! I'll believe it when Ford announces it!

It makes sense that Ford should try to keep a smaller truck line since there are thousands of Ranger fleet service trucks running out there and not even counting the regular consumer (us) with our small trucks.

I love the 4.10's in my ranger. But they tend to eat gasoline really bad once you get to 65 mph and beyond, but the low end torque is awesome.

I know right? Now the dealers are getting in on the rumor. It's done fell through on more than one occasions. If they were smart they'd keep the old school look from the 50's and 60's but we all know that they won't. The F100 would be a good choice as a replacment for the ranger, but Ford in their infinite ignorance/arogance won't be willing to take a chance on soemthing that was successfull in the past. Plus they'll use a scaled down version of the F150 and call it the F100. Another example of badging really. They also don't want to invest in new equipment either, because it's too expensive.

Indeed if they do, and I am not saying that they are going to keep a compact truck segment, they will prob use the f150 as a guideline, ummmmmmm no thanks, blech!

No joke. Basicly we will most likely have either a V6 F150 or the V8 F150. I hope they change the body style because it looks like something I just coughed up this morning, Blah.

They did that for the last 9 years of the F100's life. Except the only scaled down part was the suspension. All I have to do to my F100 to bring it up to spec with an F150 is AAL it, and put some stronger shocks/coils on the front.

But I agree, making a baby F150 would be absolutely horrendous. I'm surprised none of our 04+ F150 owners have chimed in yet.lol.

I think that "badging" has hurt and done some serious damage to the auto industry period. Look at Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Saturn. Some of Chrysler's models fell victim to this. GM has been doing it so long now that it's forced them to take a bailout along with Chrysler. That and exsessive spending is to blame along with "mismanagement". If they can't get away from badging, pretty soon we'll all be forced to buy an import, and I'm not to fond of the import scene right now to say the least.
