Default 97 Ranger plow mount fab

New to the forums. Have a 97 Ranger (2nd owner, only 53k mi on it!) - and I am buying a used Sno-Way 7' lexan plow for it. Will need to mod the existing mount to fit my Ranger. But...I don't know what the "standard" mounting/attachment points are on a Ranger...a no other in sight to look at! Wondering if someone might be able to provide one of the following to help me in my summer fab project:

- explanation of what to use as mounting points?
- photos?
- quick sketch?
- diagram from a factory plow mount that fits this year?

Again, brand doesn't matter in this...just that I find out WHERE to attach to the Ranger's frame. Probably year isn't critical either - within reason.

Thanks in advance for taking time share what you know!

Google "SnowBear" snowplows...they have bolt on mounts and brackets for almost everything.
If you do not want to purchase....they show how their mounts attach.
May give you some idea's.

Sure do, I had to fab up mine. I fabbed up mounts to bolt to the truck to except the s-10 plow frame. was not very difficult. I had to remove the entire bumper bracket tho to make it work. I can take some pics and send them your way so you can get an idea.

These trucks were not made for plowing.

Meaning? I know the engineers at ford Didn't sit down one day saying "let's design the perfect plow truck" and out popped the ranger. But...seems that people successfully plow with them - usually not commercially - and they seem to work pretty well. It is what I have so I'd prefer to use it rather than buy another truck. I've been plowing for 5 yrs with mine using an 8'6" rear plow. Works well.

Thanks for the warning thou but let's not sideline this thread into a plow or no plow thread. Just want info on gabbing a mount for my truck.

Thanks,
Keith

You just did sideline this into a plow or not plow thread... Simple fact is that it's a small not even light duty truck... not designed to plow or otherwise.. Sure you CAN plow with it and you HAVE BEEN plowing with it but you can also jump ramps with your truck.. does that mean you should? No.

well if ya want to get right down to, no truck is built for plowing. If they are they have to be equipped from the factroy with a snow plow package. The ranger is just fine as long as you dont go throw a 800lb western 8 footer on the front, then you might have som frame breaking issues, steering system issues, etc. Now on my truck, I run the 6'6 sno-way poly and it does great. And I garuntee I can hang with the big trucks plowing small commercial/residential. Those big ass trucks are only good for plowing meijer's parking lots. Rangers are fully capable of handiling a plow. Now if you stick a big bastard on there and just ram every thing your trying to push, you might have problems, but you plow smart and do it right, the ranger will hold up just fine
