looked at a new Ranger.....

This past sunday night after going out and grabbing a bite to eat, I decided to look at a local Ford dealer to see if they had any rangers there. They had 2. One was white (blah, I just gagged) 2WD standard cab automatic on the column. The interior still looked somewhat the same, the
I4 2.3 liter 16 valve DOHC engine, 3.55:1 gears (there's a strike against it). It was rather bland looking really. single cd player with mp3 capabilites. Not too bad until I saw the price. After that I was looking for a place to puke. This dealer wanted over $20k for it and I thought they're out of their fucking minds. I blame that one on this paticular dealer, the douche bags that they are. The other was the sport edition in a vista blue metalic color. It was sharp looking. It had everything the other had and more. The nerf bars, automatic on the column with 3.73:1 rear gears. I thought I could see myself in it, but then I almost had a massive coranary when I looked at the price. WTF, I said. a few more options and this dealer wanted over $30k for it. Fuck them I say. Here's what made it even worse. On the opposite side taped to the glass both ranger's engines came from Spain, and the trannys came from France. Jesus Christ, I wouldn't want a tranny made in France. How in the blue hell do we know they weren't plastard when assembling the tranny.

That is crazy. I paid $22k for my 2010 XLT 4X4 out the door with tax.
I happen to like the white by the way.

I will when I get a chance. It will have to be at night when they're closed and no body is around. This dealer is known for having the highest prices in the area period. They're also the same idiots that told me a 302 wouldn't fit in my 04 ranger edge to.

That's just a personal preferance for me about the white paint. Here's the crazy bit, I can go down to Abingdon,VA and get the exact same thing for about the same price you mentioned tags and all. This dealer is stupid on a good day.

I never go to a dealer during the day time. Only reason I would is to pick up parts.

At night or when closed is the best time due to no harassing sales people.

You got that right. These ass monkeys especially. When I first got my Ranger 7 years ago, this same dealer tried to get me to buy an 02 Kia Sportage. They wouldn't let me look at it, which was their first mistake and then said I'd never get a new truck. When mom had to go and pick up her neon after the alternator went out on it, the salesman came out took one look at me in my new truck, and he went back into his office. I yelled at him and asked how that plate of crow tasted. He was fired 2 weeks later.

my truck brand new had a msrp of roughly $29k or so; so in today's market, it might be possible for a loaded up Ranger to hit $30k depending on the area. The dealer is probably asking that price because they know they can get it, trucks might sell quick there and are worth more to the people there.

the 5RXXE and 4RXXE are part of the bordeaux transmission family, and have always been of french descent. that's nothing new.
idk about that spain business, 4.0s are german.

I know for a fact that we have dealers around here like that too. there is a used 2010 FX that only has 25,000 on it but the dealer still wants the full MSRP and he is like ten miles down the road from me. it is insane what some of these dealers think they can get. as for the Spain German deal the 4.0 is German and always has been but they have been assembled in Spain for the past six years now. there was a transfer of some blue prints on both sides and the Germans still manufacture the parts but ship for assembly.

I thought so to but my cousin works for ford and specialized in f series and rangers. He does a lot of ordering parts and is in training for design and engineering and he found all this out last year. In turn us both being avid fans of the ranger info was shared:-) (go little cous)

Completely agreed. one thing for sure those bastards know vehicles. and they don't spare expense to get it right. America used to be that way too. now it's all about how fast they can make us go buy another car??
