Very Impressed !!
Me and My buddy went on a trip this weekend to the Ouchita Mountains in Arkansas to do a little atv trail riding. Made the 475 mile round trip drive pulling a heavy duty 18 ft trailer loaded with two full size four wheelers. My Ranger pulled the load through the steep mountain roads without any problems and averaged 18 MPG. Not too bad!!! I was impressed!!

Re: Very Impressed !!
4.0? I will be towing a jetski, have a 14' aluminum boat on a ladder rack, and a bed full of gear going about 400 miles round trip at the end of the month. I will never see 18mpg with my 2.5. Sometimes a smaller engine isn't better for mpg.

Re: Very Impressed !!
these trucks pull well but there is no way you averaged 18 MPG's pulling a load through the mountains, these trucks are lucky to average 18 MPG's empty going downhill with a tailwind! lol

I dunno Pat... we averaged between 20 and 22 with a fully loaded truck cruising across the country...

I hope you're not going by the mileage you get with your truck, seeing as your sig is full of nice little mods that can easily affect your gas mileage.

my truck actually gets near stock mileage as it sits now, if on the economy tune i can squeak better than stock MPG's if im easy on it, the best mileage i ever saw with my truck in the 9 years ive owned it was 22 MPG's and that was with 33's and 4.56 gears all highway down to ohio and back. i used to pull 2000 to 3000 pounds worth of quads regularly when it was stock and after and the best mileage i ever got pulling that kind of weight was 12 MPG's on flat roads, start throwing hills and id see 10 if i was lucky. ive put thousands of towing miles on my truck and always tracked the mileage closely.

After re-reading the OP's post, mountainous terrain in Arkansas could be mild compared to what you've been through. That would definitely affect the numbers right there. And then factor in wind, etc and you get different numbers. I know whenever we get a wind here in Florida across the highway my mpg's suffer because my truck pretty much fights the wind.

depends on how big youre tank is and how many gallons you put in after going 300 miles. going of miles per tank is not an accurate way of measuring MPG's.

X2 you will be impressed all day long if this is how you calculate but its not accurate. Unless your running your truck out of gas each time lol. You can only calculate for what you pump not tank size.

Re: Very Impressed !!
Towing a trailer 2700 miles to Tennessee took me down to 10 mpg, but I may have been a little on the heavy side, and the older OHV lol I have seen 23 out of mine, that was with a bed full of stuff to helping a buddy move from MT to Wyoming.
