Re: Why all this talk about revamp/discontinuing the Ranger?
The ranger isn't really dead when you think about it concerning the big picture. The used vehicle market sells a shit load of them. Here's what's keeping the old ranger platform alive right now, fleet sales such as autozone, advanced auto, and some small utility companies such as power and natural gas companies etc. and the used vehicle market. When you first buy a new ranger your getting alot more truck for the money than you'd hoped for. And to whom ever said the crown vic is dead better go to Ford's future vehicles webpage and look. The new police cars you will be seeing is called the crown victory black hawk edition. Ford I think has alot of ideas on what to do with the old ranger platform, but they don't want to take a huge financial risk of it being a flop in terms of changing their tooling. I've heard that rumor of ford getting rid of the ranger for 4 years now, and until I see it happen I won't believe it. Right now you really have only 2 choices of a 1/2 way decent light duty truck. The old ranger, or the taco. The frontier's suck in my book, and GM fucked up when they got rid of the S10/S15 and replaced it with the Colorado and Canyon. Those 2 vehicle platforms are not worth the extra money you'd pay to have one of those vehicles. I'm with Crowd88 on this one. Yes the ranger does need help, but you can always change it with various mods. And if you don't like what you have you can always go to a Junk/Salvage yard and buy a ranger that you want. That's the point of kustomizing, make it your own with what you'd like and can afford rather than have the same truck as everyone else. The actual Ranger pick up truck has been around since 1983, which means that if you can't find one you aint looking at all.
