I wouldn't help him, unless i knew him, because if you go mudding in a 2.3L 4x2 you should know that it is stupid and should not be attempted.

and.... I love it when Idiots do stupid stuff that results in their death. -sorry if this upsets anyone, but it's the way I am.
this is called natural selection and it's Gods way of ridding of earth of idiots.

ok, now everybody start calling the old man (me) an "*******" or a "prick" or tell me how "insensitive" i am.
you troll people for the sake of doing it, not bc "they're stupid" or dont know any better. people come here to learn, not to be made fun of fresh out of the gate. Granted, some people are deserving of the ridicule, but others aren't. in this case, your responses weren't warranted. hence, the reason you're a troll with nothing better to do.

Okay so I havn't been on the forum for a few days and I can already tell that quite a lot of people have posted. And I'm sorry for the delay and not letting you all gang up and tell me how rediculous of an idea this is.

I know the shortcomings of the 3L, I have done research about it. Though I would gain a lot of power through dropping a 4L in or even a 5L, I in my eyes don't see that being the route to go. Because with a remote turbo system, if I feel the need to sell the truck and keep the parts, I can easily remove it all. And I think that Rangers are a bit hairy to drive with more than 250WHP. There was a gentleman in FT. Wayne, Indiana who swapped in a 302 with all the goodies and I could tell you...something like that, although fun...is not completely necessary.

And the gentlemen who I talked to has some connections to go with and has in turn gotten me pointed in the right direction. I have a 2000 Ranger that's similar in make to mine, 2 door, short bed, two wheel drive that I will be using for mock up purposes that currently has thrown a rod. And the good thing about this, is once I have all the parts, turbo, piping and such mounted in place, it's nothing more than mount and tune. I have talked to 2 people who have recently finished projects similar to mine, and both have told me that 5PSI is not anything too dramatic. And I have talked to Ford, Snow performance, and Turbonetics and they have said that the 3L is not the optimal engine to work with, but 5PSI is do-able. Heck a representitive from SCT actually told me where I need to go to get a custom SCT tune for an application like mine.

Now I know that there's still going to be haters, but my thread IMO is for those whom wish to venture out and do something different as I have. And since there's hardly anyone that has done this, I feel it's quite helpful.

I would just do a supercharger set-up. Don't see the point of re-routing exhaust and all that for a turbo when you'll only run 5 psi.

Nothing like staring imminent failure in the face and charging senselessly towards it.

I want to see video as well .......

of the engine exploding.

Somehow I'm starting to get the sense that you're the kind of person that likes to hear or in this case see, themselves speak. Again, if you don't have anything constructive, or useful to say, I would prefer that you not say anything at all.

It may not be the best route to go, but sadly you know it's the doubters that pushed kids in little 1.6L Honda's to build their engines that would stomp all over built up V8's. Same theory because the little 4 bangers in Honda's and Mitsubishi's were crap motors, but because people threw logic to the wind, it's common practice to see a 2-3- or even 500HP 4banger that was supposed to be a dog of an engine.

----------

Oh, by the way, here's one of the people I've been talking to. He was running 7 pounds with a remote set up and had no problems.

To me it's mostly because a supercharger would be a little bit more work, and Tom Morana even says that chances are you'll have to make modifications to your hood to make the supercharger work. And I'm not for that. Also because my friend just recently got a pipe bender and doing my own exhaust and piping work will be cut in half.

Once I start getting the finances to do this I'm going to start ordering parts. I've already gotten ahold of a wideband o2 sensor and boost meter/controller off of said friends project Eagle Talon with a 4G63 swap.
