I run shell, and I observed better MPG on premium. I crunched the numbers, and in 09 it was the best mile per dollar.

ohio has the second worst gas in the country so it really dont matter lol, i just use fuel cleaner like every three fillups or once a month
I don't have any info to contradict what you say, but how do you know? I know Octane isn't tested here for quality, so those who think they are using mid or high grade could be getting ripped off by getting lower, 87 Octane instead.

So thats what I use - 87 octane ethanol - free Shell gas from my local station.
I have to check since I use primarily Shell - 87 Octane. Being from Ohio, I thought every station was required to use a minimum amt. of ethanol (since it is better for the environment, I think, even though it decreases gas mileage). I'll have to check the pump next time I go -- there are so many stickers on our pumps it is rediculous! I do know that most stations here, such as Speedway, BP, Marathon, and Sunoco all have a sticker saying that the gas "could contain up to 10% Ethanol", but I do not know if Shell is included in the group.

Agreed. My Ranger with the 3.0 V6 gets primarily Shell, however, the wife's Edge with the 3.5L runs decent on almost any brand so I'll price compare.

+1

Theres a Ultramar right next door to work, so I usually tank over there.

87 octane everytime. it's just around 1.24/L right now (4.69/gal)... really don't want to spend a penny more for higher octane !

i read an articale about a station in california that sold 8,000 gallons of gas at $1.10 per gallon thanks to a computer glitch and attendants that weren't paying attention. said gas station lost nearly $21,000 in a few hours.

I'm a big fan of Chevron ... but not opposed to some cheaper alternatives when fuel prices are up there!

Wow! There really is no such thing as a computer glitch since humans program the computer so as I learned GIGO, Garbage In, Garbage Out. I can't remember the last time fuel was under $3.00/gallon -- let alone under $2.00. We are paying about $3.90 per gallon on average here.
