you have to watch these places, this day and age they will try to make a buck anywhere they can, i took my 06 in to get an alignment at les scwabs, a local tire chain i have done buisness with, guy came back 2 hours later and said my front wheel bearings were out at 60K, and that they would need to be changed to ensure proper alignment, and that was another $300, a couple days later after i cooled off, i went to another schwabs, one i have done several transactions thru my work "gibson ford/mercury" truck was in,a nd 45 mins later, all good to go... but that sucks about the truck, thats not right, whatever happened to the customer is always right?

First off, FUCK SEARS! Those *******es wouldn't hire me when I applied a few weeks ago. Now that I look back on it I think they knew I probably wouldn't have been there long, because they pay shitty. The one I applied at was offering 5.50 plus commission, which was based on the work you did. If you changed tires...you sold an alignment, if you changed the oil...you sold an engine cleaning...etc...

I would have been pretty damn pissed myself. Even if I didn't know shit about cars I wouldn't have lifted it where they did, it doesn't even make sense. If I was the guy having a hard time getting the center caps off I would have asked before I just started beating the crap out of them. Hell its just common sense.

By the way just to clear this up, because someone said something about it earlier: when you pay for a new part the old one is yours to inspect or keep. If they tell you it has to be "properly" disposed of call bullshit.

LMAO!

I've gone to Discount Tire for close to 10 years at this point. Some shops have nice picture windows looking out to the shop so you can see what they're doing. If they don't I like to stand outside and watch. Pretty much everything else (aside from alignment), I do myself.

This idiot at Sears had the right forward positioning, just needed to look to the outside top of the frame rail for the lift point! Discount just put a 4x4 post across their little floor lift to catch the t-bar buckets (thought they were going to use the steps at first!)

I feel for you Clinton. I hope they didn't mess up your front end.

There are incompetent people everywhere. It really makes me questions some of these automotive tech schools that are out there. If these people even went to a tech school or just someone applied for the job.

First off that sucks and is horse shit. Second, I hate to admit this here but I used to work for Sears in particular I was an assistant manager at the auto center. Quit when I started getting serious with my bosses sister. Anyway, call the corperate office and file a complaint. The manager should have taken care of it right then and there, not only should ALL the tires have been balanced and the truck aligned but your should not have been charged a damn dime. At least that is the way things were run when one of my techs did something stupid like that. Also you would have had the pleasure of hearing me chew his ass. The only reason that I go to Sears now is cause my brother-in-law still runs it. But all his sales guys and techs know me and sweat bullits when I come in cause I used to be a lot harder on them then my brother-in-law is.

In fact I went in to have my tires balanced about a month ago and when they lifted it (not like Clinton's) I noticed that the tech was new and that the lift points on the front were to far back. So it was leaning a little forward. He went to put a trans jack under the engine at which point I walked into the shop and chewed his ass. Made him lower my truck and showed him where he should have lifted it. My bro-in-law wasn't there that day so I got a call from him that night saying that I didn't need to yell as one of his techs. I explained the situation and what had happened. He decided that I was right and then he went on to chew out the tech the next day.

I hate to say it seeing as I used to work there, but don't take your vehicles to SEARS.

First off Clinton, I feel for you. Car, truck, anything that is yours that someone messes up is bad enough, and to not compensate, apologize, and continue to mistreat the customer is beyond unacceptable. However, to others making posts, all shops at one time or another are guilty of shenanigans and mess-ups. That is the unfortunate part of owning a business. By no means do I condone the behavior whether Sears or another chain, whether large or small. We make choices to work on the vehicle ourselves or pay someone that is hopefully at least, if not more knowledgable than us. It amazes me that in every post these forums turn into a, "I would never go there", "You should of done it yourself", "What were you thinking", etc. Would you tell someone who eats out (and has a bad experience), "You should have stayed home", "What do you expect", etc? No, so why should cars or other personal items be treated differently.

Maybe I got off track a little, but I'm sure we all had bad experiences somewhere. I went to a Regional Chain to have an oil change done, and was outside smoking and talking on my cell-phone, and I noticed the guy who was draining the oil take a cigarette break twice. I don't care because I know he had to wait a couple minutes after the plug was removed for all the oil to drain. Fine. I normally check the oil within a couple days to make sure that the level is correct, etc, but this one time I waited almost 3 weeks. The guy never put the darn oil cap back on. Was I peed-off? Absolutely! I called, and they took my word for it and had to order a brand new one from Ford. I went and picked it up, was never apologized to, and they handed me the cap and said, "Have a nice day". I do not frequent that particular store, but I have gone to others in the chain, and I have had a lot better success. End of story, and sorry for the hijack and rant.

I can completely understand that. I went to the very same store and had my tires balanced in 15 minutes without flaw prior to this. I guess my wording in this rant should have been better. It's more along the lines of the employees I dealt with there. I don't want apologies, I dont want monetary compensations. I just feel the people that I dealt with there do not belong in this kind of field and/or have better management and supervision when performing their duties.

I have spoken to the corporate offices, did my surveys and thats as far as I am going with my complaints. As far as the employees themselves, I believe in Karma and it WILL come back to them.
