So I've read around on here, aswell as other sites and people are having a hard time finding VHT Niteshade. Ive read about companies that will ship it but will charge 20$ shipping on the 12$ can. I came across it at Canadian Tire and picked up a can, so if you're looking for it, its there!

Anyways, on the can it says something along the lines of 'For off road use only'. I realize more then thousands of people have used it on their tail/headlights, but I just wanted to know if it IS illegal or if you can get in trouble for it. I understand light must still be able to be seen through it, but how much is too much?
How many coats of this should I be using on my lights?

a buddy of mine used this on his durango...3 light coats and a coat of clear and you should be set.

tinting any of your lights is illegal, unless it was dot approved, however on my f150 i did a light coat so it looks like harley tail lights

I have 3 light coats on my tails and have not had a problem, been tinted for over a year. And its not that the tinting of your lights is illegal, you just have to make sure you lights put out the amount of light according to state law. Like here in michigan, I talked to a local LEO who told me the law states that tail lights must be visible from 500ft away. He told me mine were fine. And I picked up the VHT nightshade from a local meijer. They seem to have it at a lot of stores around here. But with 1 can some buddys and I did the tail lights on 4 cars and turn signals on 2 and there's still some left in the can

Its very easy to get around me, Its legal to a point just like window tint. Certain states have certain limitations

^^true enough, if you go right blacked out youll probly have problems

mine probably aren't visible at 500feet.. unless you have good eye-sight.. lol i just re-did them recently only this time i taped off my reverse lights so they still serve there purpose.. looks pretty clean.! The way i look at it is: if you already have illegal modifications done, you might as well run with it.. lol
